DirectX Problem

Hi, whenever I load Trainz using Direct X there is an error and Trainz dosen't load. Does anyone know why? It is Trainz 2009 SP3.

Hmmm...

Do you have the correct Direct X version?

I think TS2009 comes with a utility that checks your PC to see if it is right for it.
Try it and see what it says about your Direct X.

Or wait for a response from a Trainzer that is actually knowledgable.

DX9.c redistributable, I think that's the 1 open GL needs even if your using DX.

I downloaded that one but it says that there is already a version that is installed so the download stopped. And Trainz still won't load.

dxdiag

Microsoft provides a diagnostic utility that might help with this. Open up a command line window (In 'Accessories' under the 'Start' menu) and type in dxdiag

The first page gives you a list of the goodies installed on your machine, the 'Display' tab has a box at the bottom called Notes where the diagnostic will report any errors it finds.

Shane is the expert on DirectX and he stresses that DX9c is required even if DX10 or DX11 is installed if you are running Vista or Windows7. You do not say what version is installed but if you run DXdiag it will tell you which version you have. If it is not 9c follow Shane's instructions.

No, I didn't install any new content. Trainz will load in Open GL but not in Directx.

Hello, Shane here.

Gauging by the message mentioned above, it sounds like you are using the Web Install method.

If DirectX 10 or 11 is installed, you need to use the Redistributable method.
