Hello

I just discovered the series but I am completely lost with all verions that exist!
I want to buy the first one.

But what is the difference between
Trainz,
Trainz Classics,
Trainz Classics 2nd Edition,
Trainz Railways 1,
Trainz Ultimate Collection
and Trainz Routes?

Thank you for your answers

Cordially

Anything below TS2009 will not be supported after September. Best to go for TS2009 or TS2010. Something i am looking at purchasing soon.

Over 80 versions listed here:

Unless the Wiki is linked to my site (which I doubt) thwe Wiki link will take you to a very old site that hasn't been updated for years. Well it did the last time I looked.

Basically TS2010 is now the de facto standard, with S&C 2009 added in to make up the (upgraded) former TC3 content.

At the bottom of the page it says 'This page was last modified on 17 March 2010, at 18:46.'

Trainz Classics 1 and 2 will be supported until Sept. 2011
Trainz Classics 3 will be supported until Sept. 2012.
I do wish people would remember that.

If you are going to buy one of the newer versions, skip 2009 and buy 2010. 2009 is supposedly going to be patched to match 2010. When or how close no one can tell so save yourself the headache. As it is now, 2009 is somewhere between the older versions and 2010, not as good as either.

Read the forums to get a feel of what to expect. The newer versions will require some learning on your part to fix errors and some older content will not work properly at all, trees and foliage primarily. Not undoable but may be frustrating if you don't know it is coming. A little research will make it easier if you are prepared, there is an added learning curve.

That may well be the case, but it seems you haven't yet looked at the page I sent you to otherwise I don't think you would have commented.. There is no comparison. About 20 versions listed on the Wiki and 85 on the Trainz resources Directory and each has a picture of the box cover.

The phrase 'very old site that hasn't been updated for years' is factually incorrect. As to the merit of each list, I'll leave that to the judgement of the reader.
