Dermmy, what's up with the Check?

Steel on Steel
Andy, I've seen that checkrail seems to be down for a day or two now. Viral problems kicking up again? My hope was the site was being updated with more content for EVWR...? Hope everything is well on your end.

Checkrail has been hacked twice in two weeks, first time it was malicious code inserted in the home page, second try was all links diverting to some fairly unsavoury destinations.

The site is deleted in it's entirety till I see what can be done about beefing up security but here in Aus it is a long weekend, so it will be a day or two yet...

Dont think your site is the only one.,I got hijacked last month on another freeware trainz site...
Got a warning yesterday on another, a bit strange and sad this bs is happening...

Trainz has become this popular that the characters feel they have to hack Trainz-related sites.

Not to name anyone or group in particular, but does anyone else recall a Russian name Anna who used a cracked copy and got banned from here? She or he (thinking it's really a he), said something about getting back at the community.

Just wondering.

John

Every time I see this I multiply that event by at lease 100 for that day or week. Anarchists can code up tools that are very easy to use so a 10 year old can get into a site and practice their use of dirty words. Imagine, if they got into a power plant system and turned off the generator's speed controls. Or, if one of the little darlings broke into PayPal. That singular site handles big bucks, although in small amounts. But the number of juicy credit cards and social security numbers make it a very desirable target. As far as I know PayPal does not indemnify their customer's losses if they get hacked. Think I'll cancel my order for that new engine.

Dremmy is doing a public service by allowing them to play in his site. Keeps the kiddies occupied.:udrool:

In general : It amazes me that , with all the great resources available, those responsible for the security of their customers worldwide find it so difficult to catch these type of people who hijack , hack , manipulate the accounts of 'top' companies etc..etc...can it be because the security of customers is very low priority in their agendas ?

I remember that Anna name, as I was one of the people who sucessfully 'blew her cover' regarding her Trainz version. (Luckily, I've been keeping my site under control, so hopefully I do not get the same problem).

Thankfully we have such dedicated people who read between the lines and 'blow their covers'.

It's just a part of life. Talk to your hosts about how you can beef up security. Don't make enemies LOL

I invariably suffer some kind of personal or web attack either just before or just after I release a new route. It's almost clockwork. I suspect someone or someones doesn't like my stuff. It used to get me down, now I just shrug and keep going...

Andy :)

I will. Thank you! I hate it when people throw little hissy fits over a game. That's all Trainz is. A game, a very creative and awesome game!

Wha--?? How could anybody NOT like your "stuff" Andy? It's first class all the way.

Have any of you guys checked the routes -- I should say "routes" --- that have been making it to the DLS lately? I mean a guy takes one baseboard, doesn't even texture it-- just lays in a straight piece of track, and uploads it to the DLS. What kind of genius does it take to do that?

Several years ago, when Delta Force - BlackHawk Down game was hot, I was a Mod on the Delta Force Barracks website. We had user-made map sections where anyone could make a map and upload it. HOWEVER, the Map section was fixed so that Mods or users alike could RATE the maps. That way you could just about see which maps were worth their salt. Maybe Auran needs some kind of rating system for routes.

Uh-Oh. Didn't mean to get off topic, but started typing and got carried away. And I don't know how to erase anything. :p

Cheers,

Dave

Trainz is NOT a game for a lot of people. Sad but true!

Seriously though, it IS a game and is an escape for most everyone here, away from the drudgery of work and everything else that goes with it.

I agree... People like that should pick up their trains and go home. :)

I know this thread is kind of old, but I hope people wise up and stop trying to spoil it for everyone. And Andy, your content is not just "stuff"--I've been running the Clovis Sub the majority of the last time's I've been in TRS 2010. It's absolutely top-notch, and on top of that, it's open enough to give decent framerates on several angles and it's perfect for passenger trains.

The site is on the fritz agian. Some route pages are missing.

Yep, took it all down, scanned it all and putting it all back up bit by bit. And I'll keep putting it back up till the sad bitter excuse for a human being who is perpetrating the mischief runs out of their tiny little attention span and goes back to playing with building blocks...
