Derailing through a switch at 8mph?

I'm trying to play through one of the Kickstarter "normal" sessions, and have to move a few empty boxcars.

I connect to 4 boxcars and push them out of their row. I am then moving at 8mph and my train is derailing when passing over a switch. I cannot imagine what would be causing this.

Any help appreciated.

Is the switch lever facing the wrong way?

Many of us haven't looked at these sessions since the early days so you need to provide a few some details such as which one.

Thanks for the note -

Yes, in this case, the switch was the "wrong way" - however, I was under the impression that it wouldn't matter if passing the switch in the "converging" direction.... ? I haven't had a version of Trainz for a long time, but as I remember, the cars used to be able to pass through switches on converging tracks without derailing.

I was able to pass through a few switches this way, and the boxcars (I think) eventually derailed on one.

This was on Kickstarter County 2, Session 02 Local Freight.

cheers!

I've noticed that sometimes we can sneak through switches with points the wrong way but in other cases we can't. The other thing I noticed is if you're passing through wrong points slowly, don't stop otherwise you're hosed! This might be one of those cases.

Check your arcade/realistic settings. Long ago I discovered that these settings would change the way you "overdue" the action of passing switches. What you try to do is act as if the points are spring loaded. Anyhow, doing that is prone to derailments. I found that lowering the speed substantially, may get away without "jumping rails". 8 mph may be too much: Try even lower speeds, or be civilized and set the points the right way.

You can also try my Junction Derailment Prevention rule. The interface was broken several builds ago, but it still functions to set the junctions properly.
