Derailed train stuck in surveyor

Hi, I have a few derailed cars stuck on a short piece of track. The cars became invisible somehow, and now I can't delete them in surveyor. I can delete them in Driver using the "delete derailed cars" rule, but even if I save the session like that, they're still there in Surveyor. They appear in the "mini map", but not on the track in surveyor, but I can't delete the track because it's occupied by these cars.

I tried creating turnout points on the track that's being blocked, but then I'm stuck with diverging tracks that I can't delete either. In Driver (in Mini Map) it shows two cars, listed as three engines (which is what I had on the train that got messed up) as well as a few cars that appear a lot smaller than they should be, extending beyond the end of the track.

I tried deleting all of the sessions from that route, but these invisible cars stay right where they are and I can't for the life of me figure out a way to get rid of them. Has anyone else run into this situation and figured out a way to fix it? I'd appreciate any advice I can get, thanks.

See if you can place a new car and get it to couple to the vagrant cars. If it will couple the 'Delete Consist' button should get rid of the lot...

Andy :)

No such luck, the consist doesn't appear on the track in Surveyor, it only appears in the Mini Map. I tried extending the track and I got the rest of the consist to appear in the Mini Map, but it still does not appear on the track. When I try placing another vehicle on the track, I can only place it at the end of the consist as it appears in the map, but it won't couple, and if I place it close enough to it, that vehicle will appear as derailed as soon as I enter Driver.

The consist is invisible on the track in Surveyor, so I can't just delete it. The Delete Consist button won't get it, neither will trying to delete each vehicle, there's just nothing to delete on the track, and clicking on the track in either delete mode does nothing.

In Driver, I can delete the consist with the derailed vehicle eraser, but even if I save the session, the consist is right back where it was, stuck and unmovable. I even tried deleting all of the sessions, still, the consist is there every time I enter Surveyor.

I even tried disabling the assets of the whole consist in the Content Manager, but still, no change.

The idea is you put an item of rolling stock on the track close to where the invisible vehicles are and move it until it up to where the invisible items are and on a bit which should mean it's now coupled and you can delete the whole consist, believe me it does work even though you cant see them.

Still nothing, when I add another car, it doesn't connect to the rest of the consist. I can place it anywhere around the where the map shows the consist, but I can't place it anywhere that would be occupied by the consist. I can place it at the end of the consist and it will appear connected in the map, but deleting the consist only deletes the car I added.

What version of Trainz are you using? If it is TS2010, your troublesome consist may be on a locked layer.

Beats me! Will it pack to a CDP? If so put it somewhere I can download it and I will have a fiddle. No guarantees.

Something similar happened in the days of 04. let's see if I remember.. : You must have a map or route as the basis of the session. Go to the main map and see if it is there. Is so, try to get rid of it by whatever means. Do also a "delete missing assets". Try to "erase" the assets as if they are buildings. I bet that the cars are on a piece of track that is not spline but a fixed asset. Why this happens? duno, but I have seen it.

I was playing with it, and I just kept adding turnouts under the invisible consist, eventually for whatever reason, the two locomotives from the consist reappeared as derailed, I was able to delete them individually and the whole problem went away. I'm not sure exactly how this happened or what the one thing I did was that fixed it since the fix was something I've already tried a bunch of times with no success until now. At some point (maybe after work tomorrow) I'm gonna see if I can recreate the situation in new blank route to try and provide an accurate bug report.

I had a similar problem with some bad content. I had two arrows but no freight cars. To delete them, I coupled a "good" car to one end and deleted the consist.

In your case, it sounds like the train was on a piece of track, but somehow part of the track was deleted. Usually this doesn't happen - you get the buzz-zoink sound when you try to adjust or delete track with a consist on it.

If anything I would report this problem to Zec on the helpdesk. This maybe a bug that you've discovered and perhaps the development team can look into it. See if you can duplicate th problem though before reporting it and include some screen captures.

The same exact thing happened to me. We could both be referring to the same session, that session being "Morning Passenger Service", which is associated with the UMR 2010 megamerge. The consist in question, consist 21, is stuck at Palmer station. A previous version of the route had several broken connections between objects and tracks, i.e. the station at Palmer was not connected to the feed line, causing any consist to derail there.

I recently reassigned the session to the UMR-TS12 MEGAMERGE SUMMER route on the DLS (revision 3). The connections there are all fixed, however Consist 21 remains derailed. It shows up red on the minimap, invisible in Surveyor (except in minimap), and visible but derailed in Driver. In Driver, this consist is assigned to driver Edgar. The consist is made up of the following vehicles:

* ATSF F7A <kuid:-1:1> * ATSF SS Chair Car <kuid:-1:100160> (x4) * ATSF F7A <kuid:-1:1> (reversed) *

*** Note: It seems that closing Trainz and opening it again after viewing it in CM may have had an effect on it. Not sure why at this point, but when I went back to edit the session in Surveyor, I was able to see three of the problem cars, so I was able to delete the entire consist and replace it with an exact copy of the old one. I'll put the revised session up on the DLS when I can.

I had this (or a highly similar) problem a while back with a route i was building...i had a cut of freight cars in a yard, and they inexplicably vanished in surveyor. There was no floating arrows, no anything but they were on the track and, what's worse, i added them before i totally got the whole "layers" thing in TS2010, so they were in the route itself. They blocked the lead track and what's worse, i couldn't get rid of them. the couple another car to the invisible cut is bull, at least in my case; i tried that and it only made the car vanish with the rest...just makes the problem worse. the only way i could fix it was to delete the cars from CM3.3...thank god they were all cars i had downloaded into the game.

I had a similar problem in 2010. I modified a route and placed 4 or 5 locomotives in a siding which did a disappearing act. Ater trying various things. I eventually made them visable. I noticed a gap between 2 locomotives that were actually coupled, I concluded that one of them was faulty in some way. To get round it, in Driver I coupled another loco to them which wasn,t easy as they were invisable. lol. This made the assisting loco invisable as well! However if you then attach a 2nd loco the whole lot becomes visable! Not even Paul Daniels can do that. Then it,s just a matter of shunting the 2 suspect locos out and sending them to their doom via a sort of ski slope which sends unwanted rolling stock off the edge of the board. My thanks to the route builder for providing that. It was the megaroute which runs through Ogden and Oakwood by the way.

This sounds silly, but if it is a DLS asset delete it in CM and then re-download it. Just extend the track next time.

I have the same problem in TS2009 - a line of six identical steam loco's , a diesel and some coaches coupled in one consist. I've tried everything here and the only thing which made a difference was coupling a loco to the front of the consist in Surveyor, and when I went into Driver it had appeared. I'd been able to drive it before (invisible) but then as now if I tried derailing it and saving the session after it had been "cleaned up" it simply magically reappeared like Captain Scarlet the next time I opened Driver.
I've deleted the offending stock in Explorer> Config but it has no effect. The only thing I still haven't tried is deleting the entire baseboard they stand on but I have the feeling that if I do that they will simply hang there in mid air. I am stumped :(

I also just had an idea which was to lay a piece of track next to the main line, couple a visible loc to the front ,move the invisible consist over to it then forget about it.
I got a message saying "the session saved successfully but could not be committed to the Trainz Asset Database" or some such gibberish.
When I opened Driver the visible loco was derailed and the invisible consist was back on the main line.
