Curved & Straight

Hey everyone I'm having a huge problem with making or placing cuved stations. When I do it it starts ok then it turns out tacky and sharp. Can someone give some support on how to smooth things out and things I can use such as splines etc. Please provide pics or a vid it would be well appreciated.
Also another problem is my tracks are not straight in the station i place the invisible station down put the platform and on one of the end of the station its always a little crooked and the track straightner doesn't do much in that situation.Help would be appreciated thank u.

You see how tacky this is.I want like a smoother station,I seen some kitbashed ones and there were very smooth not tacky.Help would be appreciated

G'day heaven7,

Thanks for those, it makes responses much 'easier'..

...let's take a look at things here. Firstly, there is one thing working against you here. I determine from the grid that the curve you have created there is something like 100 meters in radius. This equates to a radius of 5 chains (in English parlance) or whatever it is in that 'god awful' stupid "degrees" measurement that they use in the U. S. Irrespective of whichever measurement you use, this is an extremely tight curve. Here in Victoria, Australia, a curve of that radius would be limited to use in sidings only and would carry a maximum speed limit of 8 KpH (5 MpH), unless your railway is a narrow gauge one (where such design considerations are negated by the closeness of the rails). Most railways design their trackwork around mainline curves of more than 100 chains radius (20 times larger than the one you have there).

As a consequence, I am not surprised that the platform you are using there is having trouble coping with the radius. You need to 'rethink' your track layout strategy/plan. Don't forget, Trainz is a real world 'simulator' and unlike miniature model railways, is not limited by any amount of space (other than file size)...

You also might do exactly as you did with the rails. A very short 'straightened' section at either end and eliminate ALL the vertexes between the ends. That way, the platform will conform to the circle of track and be much smoother.

a little trick i do in curves for this (which might not work here) is basically at the start of the curve to the end, lay the spline don't worry about the curve yet. once spline is laid (should be straight) insert a spline point in the middle and pull it to middle of curve. not gonna be exact but once you start getting to many vertexes then you'll definatly know. but who knows, i just mess around with this kinda stuff, surely some professional will give you two step and your done approach! good luck

What you can try (I learnt this trick from the forums)

1. Get rid of all the spline points in between the two ends, so you have only the end vertexes and one level with where the track curves.

2. Use the track straighten tool on the ends of the platform.

3. Get the shock of your life when you see that the track straightener works just as well on splines!:hehe:

Hope this Helps,
Scottling
