Crossfire / SLI support

I am in a debate between the GTX 1060 and the RX 480. I am wondering though, for TANE with the shadows, antialiasing, and high detail, would TANE every utilize the full 6GB of VRAM on the GTX 1060 or full 8GB of VRAM on the RX 480. For TANE, would it be best to get a the graphics card that has the higher VRAM or higher clock speed. Now that GPU's are really advancing and performing a lot better compared to several years ago, the graphics cards should be great or not need to be replaced for a long time. Can TANE support crossfire? If it can, I wonder how 2 RX 480's can perform with TANE.
you can get a pretty good $250 card now, or wait a while, and get the GTX 980 when it drops to that price or lower. It will be fairly soon, find them on Amazon/Ebay.
I'd go for the GTX 1060 (Nvidia) as the AMD is not optimized on T:ANE from I have heard. Just my opinion.
Cool, even though the RX 480 card is not optimized for TANE, I wonder how it would run on TANE since it is somewhere between GTX 970 and GTX 980 level. Would it be a big upgrade over my GTX 570 card? I wonder how much clock speed or VRAM from a GPU would be enough for TANE?

So, slightly better (not a lot) than the GTX 970. Not quite the 980 level. But, the GTX 1060 seemed to be close, in the same way, too. Go for the RX 480, good enough, save money... Just keep in the back of your mind if what you are using it with will NOT be more optimized for Nvidia. That can help make the decision easier. If you get the 480, do a little testing and reviewing for the community here, and give your feedback on your findings!

Thank you Pdkoester. I am looking at the Sapphire Nitro RX 480. As soon as I can find one in stock, I think I will go for it. Slightly more expensive than the EVGA GTX 1060 but probably it would be worth it in the long run since two of the RX 480's perform better than a GTX 1080. The good thing about the GTX 1060 is that it has a higher clock speed. My apologies for all of the questions on the graphics card. I try to get the most for my money. Since TANE is not optimized for AMD cards, would that mean that the RX 480 be likely to stutter or run with lower fps in TANE?
I'm inclined to the belief that oft-quoted statements like: 'T:ANE is optimised for nVidia cards' and that 'AMD cards perform badly in T:ANE' are absolute myths these days!
There's no evidence to support this. Sure, earlier cards (like mine) had problems due to poor Catalyst graphics drivers, but once they were fixed with the new Radeon Settings ones, then most of these apparent issues went away.
AMD have been extremely diligent about tweaking and updating their drivers on a regular basis of late.
This forum shows plenty of posts from nVidia card owners experiencing driver-related problems too.
The RX 480 should perform really well with T:ANE, providing you optimise your settings to suit the card and install the latest drivers.
Whether or not it will continue to do so once you go to a Crossfire multi-GPU configuration, however, may depend on some coding support from N3V being provided for both SLI and Crossfire.

Awesome. I have been reading up on the graphics cards recently and have found that they have really advanced in terms of architectures and performance. They are running much more efficient and are not far from the 2Ghz range in clock speed which is amazing for a graphics card. I have also heard good things about the later drivers like Crimson. I am going to stick with the Sapphire Nitro RX 480 8GB card. I just have to wait for one to be in stock because they are sold out for now. I will let you know how it performs when running TANE. If N3V could come up with crossfire support for TANE in a future patch, that would be amazing. Thank you everyone for helping me with the graphics card choice
