Creating and revising multiple sessions?

How on earth does one create more than one session and have it linked to one route? Then revise the session or sessions if need be? Seems like a simple task but it is not straightforward or at least intuitive in Trainz 2010. I am sure these questions have been asked many times before. However, unfortunately I find the forum is not particularly amenable to searching for the information one desires?

Yep, it's an issue. You load 'Create Session' (or Edit Session), triple check that you are on the Session Layer, do nothing that should affect the underlying route and you can't get out without re-saving the route AND session.

If you 'Save As' (as I prefer) then the route gets a new kuid and every other session is kaput. Sometimes manually revising the map kuid in the other Sessions configs associates them with the new route save, but surprisingly often it doesn't.

If you 'Save' and overwrite then the route kuid remains unchanged and any/all other sessions will still associate with the new route save, but in my experience 'Save' is prone to crashing out and it's "Hello desktop, Goodbye everything!".

If I have multiple sessions I never touch one of them without saving the current version of the route and and all sessions to cdp beforehand. I shouldn't have to...

I see your point on that. I am just trying to figure all that out myself. I want to have a current copy of a session with it's route on DLS so I can play multiplayer with friends here. Yet I need a copy I can update that is using the same Route. It seems a bit confusing, what I should be doing to make sure I don't change the route that I need while playing online. I am tempted to make a new route up every time I make a test version of a session , just so I know I haven't done anything to the Route I put up on DLS. I do lock the route layer and only work on session layer. I have found that I lock it, come back in after testing and it's unlocked for some reason. Not sure what is going on.
