Creating a Custom DMU

I've tried creating a custom DMU train in PaintShed using a BR MK3 coach as the template and then modifying the config file to set engine to "1" and add engine spec, hornsound, interior, etc dependencies. With a bit of tweaking the item shows up in Railyard and will add to the route no problem but the train will not function - its still as if there are just two coaches sitting there idle.

I've tried the engine specs from a Class 43 loco and also tried copying most of the specs from the config file of a BR Class 158

Is there something fundamental I'm missing about creating a DMU?

Alternatively is there any way to reskin an existing, say Class 158, DMU in PaintShed?

I've managed to get it to work by setting the category class to "RD", I think I was missing an enginespec as well.

I have another problem with this DMU. I've added the KUID for interior using the same one thats in a BR class 158 and also tried the one for a Class 43 loco however when I select "cab view" I'm just seeing the edge of the map. Is there something else I need to do to configure the interior?

I'm no expert in this area but I know that the interior mesh uses an attachment point in the loco that is named a.cabfront. If you check the BR MK3 mesh you'll see it doesn't have an attachment point named a.cabfront. The BR Class 158 has an a.cabfront located at coords. 0, -10.252, 2.365. You might be able to add an attachment point using PEV's Attachment Maker to place the interior view in the proper place but I'm not sure the cabin controls would function.
