Crashed out

Was going to suggest also that you deleted those assets with TO. I use TRS2004 but use TC3 as well. It's well worthwhile to check any new assets in a later version of Trainz before adding to 2004. Around 10-20% can be faulty especially those from non DLS or older assets. Error checking in TO is fairly basic and can't really be relied on to find faults.

Hello,
I did try to get shot of them with TO but all I could find was replace with another asset. I chose Yes and got one of the faulty assets to replace it with! I thought I might at least have had the option to choose which asset...

But deleting from the drive worked just as well and now I can't put them back by mistake - don't want that all over again...
A shame they were very nice sheds and a couple of old houses I got a couple of days ago, new assets, so nothing old here. They were by a Russian creator I think.
But plainly something was wrong because it's working fine now.
I don't run any other version of Trainz, I am too old to wait for CMP to load assets, I would probably be dead before it got through the stuff I have in Dispatcher!

I have used Trainz since, well, Trainz, when it first came out, but have never experienced anything like that before, and that's a good many years...

But thanks your looking and replying, you care and that's important.

Blessings,

Angela

An idea that might help with new content is to try it on a small test route first then if it's dodgy it wont have done much damage. BTW have your East Kent route very nice, fantastic. A lot different to the kind of routes I make running through arid deserts.
Cheers

Angela,
1. Highlight the asset then
2. click the big black 'X'.
That's how to delete assets with TO. This will remove the asset from your PC completely.
TO has a bug when deleting more then one asset sometimes so, just right click anywhere then click REFRESH.

Have fun!

Angela,
If you know the kuid number(s) of the asset(s) you think is causing your problem, can't you delete them from your TRS2004\World folder, then open the route and do the delete missing asset thing? What is the kuid number? I'd like to look at it with CMP.

All kuids

Hello Bob,
All the kuids numbers are listed earlier in this thread. Could you let me know how you get on please?
There is another thread in General about these assets, other people have had the same problem. Killer Assets I think it's called. There are people trying to work to a sensible conclusion there.
The assets were made in 2009 (it says) and the version changed down to 2.4 and then sent to Auran as 2004 content, so in there somewhere lies the root cause.
I did delete it from the World folder in the end - well, both ends really!
That allowed me to get back into the route, albeit with the Missing Assets warning. But once saved out as a new version it loads fine now.

Thanks to all the folk that have come onto this thread and offered help, I do really appreciate it. A picture speaks a thousand words....

Bless you all,

Angela

Hi ,
someone suggested to error check in TO .
This is a good idea , but it wont help in this case.
The cause of the problem is a small change in the im file format in the TS2009 exporter.

Did that, bought the T-shirt

Yes markbin, I did the TO error check, but as you say, it didn't show anything amiss. The problem is deeper...

I downloaded d sclad 3 :49 into TS2009 and TRS2004. My results:
Works ok 2009, i.e. I can place it in Surveyor.
Can be viewed ok with fileviewer 3.14.
It shows up in TO but not in 2004 Surveyor so I couldn't even place it.
It crashes my computer when I try to view it with TOE.

Such a simple file, such a pain in the A**. I've dumped it!

Placed

Hi rweber95,
A line from your post :-
It shows up in TO but not in 2004 Surveyor so I couldn't even place it.
I could placed it and indeed all of his hassets and save the route, but leaving and returning was the test, that's what crashed me out.

I see he's saying 'Don't use my assets' now. A bit defeatist but if they don't have access to 04 over there I cannot see how they can test content in it.
So I shall leave them well alone from now on in. A pity, the sheds were very good and looked great on a route.

Angela

They're simple little sheds so you could easily put something similar together in Gmax and use his textures. That should provide a solution for you.
