Converting to LOD Mesh

Does anybody know if there is an easy way to convert from "Progressive Mesh to LOD Mesh".I'm getting several errors cropping up on some of my assets when I'm trying to install them. Also does anyone know where I can find kuid 10:184 which I believe is for a Class 37.I realise I've asked two different questions here but I hope some one can help.

It's probably worth doing as Corporal Major says and converting the progressive meshes, but I understood that this was a warning, rather than an error, and the PMs would still work in TS2009.

If the kuid of the missing item is actually -10:184 then it is an old built-in item. If it's the Auran class 37, then there are many better versions on the DLS (originally by pikkabird - re-skins by various creators).

LOD (level of detail) designs require 2 or 3 separate meshes of different complexities. This can only be provided by the designer that has the mesh source files. That warning message is meant for designers but it is stupid to have it show up to the casual user. Auran bad.:p

It is important to post kuid numbers accurately. If you would have posted your missing kuid as kuid:-10:184 it would be obvious that it is a builtin asset since all negative kuids are builtin from Auran.

Basically without the source no.

What you can do is convert it to a single .im mesh without lod with Pev's tool this may or may not make it run faster depending on the poly count etc.

Thanks for all your replies, I don't think I want to down that road. I like to keep things simple.Regarding my 2nd query I want to get LMS diesels 10000 & 10001 into TC3 but because of missing dependencies Kuid -10:184 & -1:100078 they won't show up in Railyard although they are listed. I have them ok in Trs 2009 but I would like to get them in TC3 as they did run on the S&C line.

Depending of what these inbuild Kuids are, you could/may substitute these with others in its config.txt file. Check the relevant Construction Guides, there is usually a listing in the rear of these of buildin Kuids and what these are.

Say, if one of these is a people figure or bogie etc. (example only), there are others in your version of the game you could replace these with.

*Edit: In TS09 one can export a CDP of a wanted Kuid. I don't know if this works with buildin Kuids too but do a search in TS09's CM2, once found export it as a Kuid, then load/import it into the version you want to run (TC3). If its version number is higher in the new location (TC3), edit the config.txt in TC3's CM+ to the right version number and any other entries that may have changed since TC3 like tags etc. and hopefully it works.

I hope this makes sense :)

Cheers

HI VinnyBarb, I tried doing what you suggested but it didn't work but I've cracked it, probably more by good luck that judgement.I found that kuid -1:100078 was the problem. It was a bogey, so I found a suitable replacement, kuid2:2512:50200:2 and changed it and it worked! So I've got my LMS diesels in TC3. Thanks for everyone who tried to help.
