Converting layout plans to trainz

i am sure this has been asked but I am new...

If you have a track plan that is shown in 1 foot squares on paper, how should you translate this onto a Trainz board?

thanks!

I frequently do this, but I ignore the one-foot squares on the plan and take advantage of the size of TRAINZ baseboards to follow the general theme of the plan but make it more realistic, ie. prototypical curves and platform lengths, more room for pointwork (tunouts), etc. In OO/HO layout plans, 1000mm radius is considered large. In real life this would equate to 76.6 metres/87.37 metres respectively. In Britain, the minimum radius for passenger trains is 201 metres, with 293 metres for the curved part of any point/turnout. Model railway curves just look wrong in TRAINZ.

If you want to copy the plan exactly, select the required scale at the new map window dialog and use the ruler in surveyor :D :D
