Content Search Filter in 2012

I would like to get some information on how to use this feature properly.
I know how to search for items by name and I know how to drag items into the Pick list. Just the basics.
I would like to add things by certain types like trees or buildings or textures into the picklist. When I drag items into the list now everything gets put in ascending order but my list keeps getting longer and longer, and that's sort of like looking thru all my assets in trainz. I think that defeats the favorite purpose.
Can someone tell me how to make seperate picklist with different items or is this even possible?
I would like to have like a list with just textures or houses or industries and such.

Thanks to all.
Bob

There is only one pick list. If you want to do some groups, you might try using Content Manager's rating function. Trainz uses the 5 star rating to identify favorites. That leaves you 5 ratings (0 thru 4 stars) so you could have 5 categories of assets. Once assigned, you can view groups in CM and in Surveyor. To assign a rating, select the kuid in the main display, right click and select rating and assign the number of stars you want.

I tend to use the pick list only for items that I use a lot - ground textures, track, trees and grass etc. However you have raised a valid arguement for multiple pick lists. Why not suggest it in the suggestions box.:)

Thanks guys.
I was begining to think no one else had a clue about this feature.
I downloaded so many assets thru the years that it's impossible to remember all the names so at least if you could seperate them by what they are
you could have half a chance at finding them.
I do know most of the important items by name but that is all.
I have made so many blank routes with just certain things like bridges and industries and also trees and textures on them but that's a hard way to find certain items.
And most of all my Old brain is getting overloaded and needs to be defraged:)
Well anyway thanks for the reply from the both of you. And I guess I will have to keep doing what I do with the pick list.

Cheers,
Bob Roy

The best way, in my opinion, is to use the ''Edit keyword'' function. Use some specific words (even coded words for you) for each category. So when you search for a specific category you type your keyword and all item that has this keywords appear.

I use ''R4P'' for all item I will use, then I add another word for the category...like ''R4P Barn'' or ''R4P conifer''.

That is a great idea.
I'm going to do just that.
That will give my brain a rest and I'll have more time to play.
Will start working on that today.
Thanks 'R4P'
