In content manager under status, I.e...installed from DLS,obsolete or
”installed from DLS, missing dependencies”
is there a explanation of how to handle these comments somewhere
I’ve done forum searches, and tried Wiki, but no luck

Well, installed from DLS means it's on your system and available to use. Been handled, in other words.

Obsolete means there is a newer version of the same thing available; right-click on the item and pick List Asset Versions to see the available versions. Newer versions can be downloaded with a right-click and Download or Download This Version. Make sure first the Trainz you're working in can handle the displayed Build Version.

Missing Dependencies means some additional asset that item requires is not on your system. You need to right-click the item and select List Dependencies (Recursively). (Recursively gets you the dependencies plus the dependencies of the dependencies.) If you click on the "Status" column header once or twice the missing items should pop up on top of the list. Select and download them. Once they're installed, the Missing tag should go away. If not, repeat the procedure until you've got them all.

Installed from DLS, Newer version available: means an item is obsolete and a DLS update is available. This is only shown in versions which use the new Content Store.
Running an "out of date" filter in CM will also show these

Obsolete -- a newer version is already installed at your computer.
Newer version available -- a newer version is available at the DLS, but not installed at your computer.

If everything is working after you've updated any out-of-date assets, you can delete the obsolete ones. As a matter of routine, I check the out-of-date assets first before downloading anything new. Update those, then check for faulty assets. If nothing appears there, and mine is in fact clear, I will then delete the obsolete assets.
 
But you cannot delete obsolete base, built-in, or payware assets.

I know, but I don't think it matters because those objects really don't exist like actual mesh ones do. The built-ins and DLC are housed in single files and get extracted at run-time unlike regular assets, which are compressed, but are individual and can be edited.
 
Disable the obsolete built-in/payware assets. Sometimes obsolete assets (like mesh libraries) can cause problems. Deleting/disabling them usually avoids this problems.
