content manager 3.7

Since moving to Trainz12 from 2010 content manager 3.7 constantly freezes when searching for content and I have to keep using task manager to close it and start again. It has now become impossible to use it for more than a few minutes. Does anybody know what the problem is or if it is possible to revert back to version 3.3 in Trainz 2012? I use windows 7 x64.

Unfortunately, you cannot revert back to 3.3, as that is TS2010 (without reinstalling/using TS2010 of course).

TS12 SP1 (3.7) has been known for some issues, but most of the time it's faulty content that affects it - search for Faulty:True using the dropdown in the Search Panel, and see if there are any updates for anything that is found.

thanks Shane, I cleared out some dodgy content which seems to have cured the problem.
If it does solve the problem I'd be keen to know what you mean by "dodgy content". I've had similar lock ups and raised a problem report with N3V. Didn't get any response.

The content was only items with missing dependencies or were faulty that I had downloaded from the dls that were probably not meant for Trainz 2012. unfortunately, I tend to download what I think might be useful assets only to find they don't work and then be a bit slow to clear them out. Also I am not too clear on repairing something if at first it doesn't work after I have committed them.

Have you ever lost your Content Manager filters?

Every now and then I manage to lose my user defined filters in CM and I think I may have found something of interest.

A couple of times I have apparently lost filters when double clicking on a CDP file which automatically opens up CM (assuming that file type is linked to CM). Both times the filter list has reverted to the standard list. But on exiting and restarting from the desktop icon the user defined filters return.

I'm not sure if this is by design or perhaps a bug. I do know that I have had to rebuild my filter list from scratch a few times. Maybe that was unnecessary and when I did rebuild, I did trash the old list.

Any thoughts on this before I submit a trouble report?

Paul
