Content Download has error script messages....

When starting Trainz 2010 EE and I click on Start and then on Content Download, it shows error messages and am unable to do the 1500+ updates. What to do?

"Content Update Error:
Script Exceptions:
UpdatesMenu:Thread Exception:ER_Exception, line 202, file updatesmenu.gs(1)
UpdatesMenu: Empty String at parameter 1 (file HTMLBuffer.gs)(1)"

(Clicking on MORE gives the following....)

"Thread Exception:ER_Exception,line202,File UpdatesMenu.gs
Stack Dump:
function$string@UpdatesMenu::GetUpdateListHTML(),line-1
function$void@UpdatesMenu::RefreshHTML(),line 514
function$void@UpdatesMenu::ThreadedLoad(),line633 "

(Overlook the "" as it only means verbatim to what it said.)
I have no idea what all those error messages mean, only that something is wrong..lol. Can anyone from Trainz help me with this issue? I tried to copy and type it exactly as it showed, but if I made mistakes forgive me. I'm not a programmer. :)

P.S. Using CONTENT MANAGER works fine. it is using the UPDATE that I have this issue.

Try doing an extended database repair. If that does not fix it, use Content Manager to download the updates.

P.S. Welcome to the forums.

Thank you for replying. I'm not sure how to do the extended database repair. I purchased trainz 2010EE with direct download (not wanting to wait for the disk(s)) to arrive from Auran's website.

No problem - here's the instructions: (be prepared to have to wait a while if you have a lot of content installed).

1.Launch Content Manager.
2.Once Content Manager has loaded, click File, followed by Extended Database Repair, then sit back and wait for it to complete.

Bear in mind that it may produce 'faulty' assets, which can be checked by using the Search pane - select Faulty in the dropdown box. These can then be selected using right-click > Select All, then sorted out using right click > view errors and warnings.

May I also suggest that you read my sticky in the DLS,FCT forum to hopefully avoid another possible issue.

Ok. Thank you. I will try that and let computer run overnight and see what happens. :) I will also look for your sticky. I know DLS = Down Load Station, but not sure what FCT is.

You're in luck. I've got a blog entry that covers all the main abbreviations - see my Trainz Technical and Operational Tips and Tricks blog. (For reference, FCT = First Class Ticket)

I found that the content updater in TS2010 is broken and I was unable to fix it. You can do he updates manually in CMP by using the out of date filter. The updater has been fixed and works very well in TS2012.

Well, worked for 6 download/updates then back to errors again. Going to try using above (Shane) way and see if it fixes it again.

If it still plays up after that, use Content Manager to download updates - my tutorial for that can be reached from the thread in my signature (and is pictorial as well to make things simpler).

Be aware that unless you have a First Class Ticket, you may not be able to download them all in one go. (best value one (in my opinion) at the moment is the 1 year one at $24.95 AUD)
