Constant 'Updating database'

G'day guys! :wave:

I reckon heaps of people are having this.

Every time I click 'Play' in the TS2009 launcher. I get 'Updating Database'

No, I have not shutdown the PC right after closing down Trainz, nor have I ended the TADDaemon process. Trainz just does it everytime I try to launch it... It's frustrating. Any help guys?

Jake,

This TS2009 downloading the content database. Hit Escape and that should "kill" the update. TS2010 fixes a lot of this in its current version.

hit escape kills it
but as soon as you click on the game it starts again

it very annoying to have to wait for nearly 2 hours every time it happens

by the time it finishes i run out of playtime

what has happen is you database has crashed,,, you need to let it it finish
afer you have exited trainz,,,,, you are shuting you computer down too quickly
 
It may also be a symptom of non-admin permissions on TrainzUtil and TADDaemon if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 (or possibly not running Trainz as administrator at all)

my pc is always on for at least an hour after i stop with trainz 2010

even when i check there is nothing showing on TrainzUtil or taddeamon
they are bioth finished

running win7 ultimate as admin always
right clicked and set permissions for shortcut as well

but yet
next click on surveyor or cmp it does it again

that's not normal mates

I agree - that's not normal.

Something in Trainz is causing the database to corrupt - make sure you are running at least build 41844 (SP3) or 44653 (SP4 - this is the SP that adds TADDaemon).

No - that is actually the last standard patch before the multiplayer patches.

(The lowest multiplayer build is in the 45xxx range)

hi shane
that seems to have fixed the update problem,
but
now it will not keep my user number

every time i start i have to type it in

any idea as to how i can fix it?
i cannot find the page that 06 had with the number in it

I have found that the permissions sometimes reset after a patch, so verify that it is still running as administrator.

EDIT: Registered serial numbers should appear in the Launcher Options box.
