Considering 2010

All,

Having owned TS06 and TS09 I'm not a noob to Trainz though I have been away for awhile. After a recent catastrophic hard drive failure I was looking for service pack downloads for 09 when I started reading about 2010. Apart from the marketing spiel I have a few questions I'd like answered before I buy 2010.

1) I love to design new layouts but found my greatest bane to be Content Manager plus. Are there still issues with connectivity? CMP worked for awhile for me and then just stopped working. I could never figure out why it happened and I'm pretty network savvy.

2) Is there a significant difference between graphics between 09 and 10?

3) Have there been improvements to the route layout tool (think its Surveyor)? With 09 I had imported some DEM files which worked great but got tired of manual tasks like adding trees. My favorite region is heavily forrested and even using cut and paste it got tedious very quickly.

4) New routes worth it? I found the 09 routes very glitchy.

Thanks,

Forgot to add one:

5) Read about layers in surveyor. Does it seem to work really well? Anyone created multiple times of year, etc?

You need to think it out carefully as you work, but they do work well. I've used them intensively when using basemaps. I put the basemap on the session layer and lock it in place while I lay the track and stuff on the route layer.

Other nifty things too are the Replace Assets. Great for trying different track, replacing scenery objects, etc. Use this all the time.

The object filter - great for searching for specific content within Surveyor. It has all the different search functions that you find in Content Manager, but within Surveyor. I use Region and Author all the time. The filter also supports binary switches - and, and not and, or.
