hello, all. chris here.

my newer computer is a LOT better at running TS10 and 12, however TANE leaves me wondering: are my specs okay?

OS: Win7 Home
Processor: Intel Pentinum E6700 (3.2 GHz)
Graphics: Intel GMA X4500
Hard Drive: 1TB RAM
Memory: 4GB DDR3

from what i can tell, these specs are either great of suckish. so...yeah....

There are three important things missing from your post.

Firstly, is your Windows version 32-bit or 64-bit?
Secondly, is your processor dual-core, triple-core, quad-core or more?
Thirdly, what DirectX version does your graphics card support (run dxdiag and look on the Display tab for this information)?

I doubt whether you would get decent performance in TANE on that system. According to CPU World your CPU dates from 2010 and your 1TB HDD will be 5400RPM, very slow.According to this thread circa 2008 (!) your graphics weren't good for gaming THEN, let alone now. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/257360-33-intel-x4500-good-games

As long as it's not a mini-system or an all-in-one system, it should be possible to replace the graphics card. However, make sure you get one that's compatible with your motherboard.

Motherboard compatibility is a rare issue these days, the vast majority of motherboards have at least one PCI-E 16X port. The area to look into now is the PSU and what can be done with ones current model. However with the GTX 750 and GTX 750 Ti, even having a cheap 300W PSU need not be much of a burden.

Assuming the fact that his Pentium E6700 is from the LGA 775 era I would be safe in assuming he has a PCI-E 16X slot, however the power supplies wattage would be a nice piece of information to have.

yeeeaaaahhhh....i really don't think my dad would want me disassembling a computer...i'll see what he can tell me.

A low profile system. Being that it's a prebuilt it may or may not have a PCI-E 16X port. That and the power supply will no doubt be quite weak I'm afraid. That in mind, if you could find out the PSU wattage and expansion ports on the motherboard then a low profile GTX 750 MIGHT be an option for expansion.
