Commodities guide?

So I got a map I downloaded, but it has no sessions. I'm trying to create my own but most of the industries don't have commodities assigned to them. Anyone know where I can find a breakdown of all the commodities? What comes from what? A tree with a breakdown of what becomes what? Like I know logs > woodchips > general goods > containers. stuff like that?

Oh and any1 know where I can find a guide on how to create tracks? I'm new to surveyor, and if I try to make a junction to create a new piece of track it doesnt bend smoothly to create a solid professional looking junction.

Commodities were introduced into the game some years ago along with interactive industries that could produce and/or consume them (2004) I believe. Hence the commodities chart. At the time they were a major advancement to the the game but from 2010 there is a new generation of interactive industries, commodities and various (un)loaders that are stand alone and do not depend on other industries. It.s really a question of letting your imagination loose and setting them up accordingly. You could set up one to produce steel and transport it to a factory which produces tractors and then take the them to a port for export. There is a nice meat packing plant that you can take ice and cattle to which produces a food product which you can also transport. Don,t forget to configure the rolling stock to carry your commodities of which their is a large variety, including tanks which you could export to Libyia!

I could if I knew HOW!
Is there a guide, has anyone put together some instructions, how does one learn, pray tell, to configure the rolling stock?

I very much appreciate that it can be done, but how does one do this?

Thanks in advance for any assistance in understanding this.

To configure the rolling stock, ideally, it should be set by its creator when first designed, as adding ques and such to non-interactive content is a real hassle to no end. It probably *can* be done, but they'll be 'invisible' as the attatchment points for visible loads, etc, won't actually 'be' a part of the model, etc.

PEV's Attachment Maker utility program allows you to easily create/add attachment points to an existing mesh file.

To be honest I,m no "expert" but if I can do it anyone can. Maybe I should write a tutorial, LOL. Seriously it,s not that difficult to get a wagon to load or unload a product. I.m working on modifying the Port Ogden route in 2010 at the moment and that has a huge amount of interactive industries. How to explain it is the problem. Essentially you need 2 things. The first is a loader/unloader and the 2nd is a suitable vehicle to carry it in. In the case of the Port Ogden Route they are already included in the layout. As for the vehicle that is easy. When a vehicle is created it is configured to carry anyhing from one commodity to several. All you need do is add vehicles to your layout and examine them to see what commodities they CAN convey. Then configure a loader/unloader to load a product that you know a particular vehicle can convey. OK, I,ve made a compete mess of this post and not helped you at all so I guess I had better come up with a "walkthough" to make it easy for you to do.

http://members.westnet.com.au/nightcrawler/trainz Click on this link then the "click here" icon in the top left corner of the webpage and select Tutorials" There are 3 tutorials for the Multiple Industry new (M.I.N) which was a follow on from the Trainz 2004 interactive Industries and was intended to give the user many more commodities to load/unload. It,s a nice piece of kit which gives you a lot of choices but it is pretty complicated to set up. However, if you can master it through these tutorials it will be worth it. All Interactive Industries, the M.I.N. and all the other multi loaders (which are nothing more than a short section of track) have to be set up in surveyor. The M.I.N is the only one that takes some setting up. I,ll have get round to writing a short tutorial and posting it here for you.

One more suggestion for commodities. If you know the product you want to use, start CM and set the Search Panel to Category - Commodity. Find your desired commodity (download if you don't have it) then right click it and select View dependent assets to get a list of all kuids that are already set up to use it. If you're luck you'll find rolling stock that can carry it. The industry that can produce/consume the commodity is easy with the Multiple Industry New kuid.

Mouse click?

Did you copy and paste the link into IE toolbar? If so it will not work.

You need to mouse click on the link and IE should take you there directly. If not consider upgrading to Firefox - it works first time every time. Ignore all the RapidShare bumpf about signing up. Look for the free download.

I guess that,s what happens when you use your company's computer at work, lol. I didn,t copy and paste but I do have firefox on my computer at home. I had better try that. TY.
