It is...

It is the articulated Y6 class locomotive of the Norfolk and Western railway (now Norfolk Southern). Here is an image of it:

Reply @ Masterowner

Would love to see the GN Empire Builder, which I rode as a kid in 1951. But I think the California Zephyr was the flag-bearer on innovation. Classy as the stainless livery was though, the Empire Builder in orange and green beat it hands down.

The name change when the Hill lines were merged was a travesty; it should have been Great Northern Pacific. At least they had the sense not to propose Quincy, Northern & (not so) Great Pacific.:(

The Milwaukee's Olympian Hiawatha (Seattle-Chicago) came later, but the observation cars on the late 1950s consist were absolutely magnificent and the paint job was pure eye-candy. The observation cars survived on CNs Gaspesian for years (Montreal-Gaspe). If my memory is good, the Milwaukee ran under wire from Seattle to east of the Rockies, which made it seriously ecofriendly.

If the current Empire Builder uses superliner coaches, these are already available on the DLS (Josef Pav - Trainz.DE), therefore I wouldn't think that Auran would re-issue an earlier version of an existing train, hence my vote for the Silver Lady, otherwise the Empire Builder would have been a natural choice.

I want to say that it is the California Zephyr, it's inagural run was in 1949, but it doesn't quite fit the description.

The El Capitan Hi-Levels were introduced in the 50s, it could be them & they are still used today.

The Aerotrain also fits the description.

And finally a shot out of the blue: the Acela. :P

No guesses from me, just some hopes raised by the posts in the thread: "California Zephyr" (CB&Q, D&RGW, WP), "Empire Builder" (GN) or the "North Coast Limited" (NP). A MILW "Hiawatha" would fit right into the TS2010 built-in route.

Trainz 2010 already has rolling stock from CP's "Canadian," including a nice E-8 A and B set, so that is not likely. Similarly, component rolling stock of the AT&SF streamliners have been built into TRAINZ for a long time.

ok lets make a "symptom board", like Dr. House.

- Passenger Consist
- Streamliner Type Locomotive
- 1950's Era
- DIESEL
- US Based
- The OP said "valued customers", so it cannot be a commuter rail setup.
It would have Diner cars, Oberservation cars, Bar cars, etc.
- He also stated that the train was more "cost-effective", so does anyone
know of an "economy" diesel from the '50s?

I'm thinking the Balwin Babyface or sharnose locos. THAT, would be cool.

I would guess the Y6 but that is allready available in trs 2012 but uh rob you think you could give us a better hint because the only info we have is it from the 1950's and up and it is a passenger train but somthing tells me it is the C&O's never put into service streamliner the chessie.

California Zephyr, based on Rob's hints. It's not going to be a Y6b; one is already included with TS12. Financially, N3V would be losing money hand over fist if they re-released the Y6b.

Mystery Train????

I hazard a guess it is UP 844 "the Living Legend" last steam loco built for UP and still going - pic is around Sherman Pass??

everyone is so funny.:hehe:

-butler, not in a bad way, but if you read the previous posts, the image rob gave us has nothing to do with the mystery loco. its just the steam loco from the cover of TS12.

also, to everyone guessing, it cant be a steam train, so stop guessing its a steam train. lol:D

and come on auran. be nice. give us a hint. please?

Probably not, but Budd Railcars?

Sounds like the railways needed to change their way of thinking, that's why I suggested the above.

PS: We know this is about payware from the company that does this simulator, so shouldn't this be in the payware section?

hey H222, you know how some people have selective hearing?

i think the people that keep posting non american or steam answers must have selective reading or selective sight. :D :D

You mean when they hear what they want to hear?? I suppose some are just ignorant or just impatient
