Why is it that so many boxcars (and a couple of gons and even a tanker) seem to collapse like a house of cards when viewed from particular angles? The sides fold into the middle, but the doors remain in place. It's a very odd and somewhat disconcerting view, especially when looking over yard full of rolling stock!

This is caused when the poly count for the trains is not set high enough in the options menu. If you are using 06 then move the 'Train Poly Count' slider to maximum in performance settings, In 09 increase the train detail level to high in options. Not sure how it works in other versions but I expect that each version has a similar way of increasing the detail level for trains, cars (rolling stock to us Brits) etc

Thank you mondo muchly, Andy....moving that slider did the trick. Not sure how much cargo was damaged by those cars that kept folding in on themselves; our financial department is anticipating a number of claims,
but at least now the yard looks nice and serene.
