COE Rail Update #5

So I have been working on COE rail a bit more, between other things. Ive been testing out different trees so see how they look and what hit they have to performance. M:Ultratrees look the best, but I think they might bog down my come if I add too many of them. But these new ones coming out soon might work better.

Any who, here are some more shots of the Wixom area that is now 70% done.

I have been working on learning CMTM3 and will see if I can t get it working on this route.

Is Wixom A BNSF Line? For some reason I remember doing a short prototypical line from Wixom to Milford?

Its the CSX Saginaw sub which from time to time will see a BNSF coal train coming from Ohio to Flint. There BNSF swtiches over to the CN Flint sub and runs to Durand. In Durand BNSF drops off loaded coal and picks up empty's and makes its return trip. Then the coal is sent to Lansing Mi where it is unloaded at the power plant at MSU.

What I am building here is just the Michigan Air line, also know as COE rail. This is a small line that used to run east out of Wixom. They served only two industries before they closed up shop and the tracks ripped up. American Plastic Toys and a lumber supply whose name escapes me. COE rail was also home to the Star Clipper Dinner Train.

As for Chrisracer, due to personal experiences with the kid and the fact that his routes are very incorrect I am not too fond of him. (Last time I saw him in person my girlfriend had to hold me back from knocking him out)

And that is why I am building my own CSX Saginaw sub including COE rail and with the help of BDP the CN Flint Sub as well.

Speaking of which, I have all the DEM's for the Saginaw sub downloaded, just need to get the Flint Sub next, then the Holly Sub, Then what ever else I care to add. THEN I need to start getting the Georefed images for every thing. Then we can move on to building.

The BNSF coal trains are N956 and E945 that come off the BNSF in Chicago to Essexville, MI via Lake State Railway (and they go via Grand Rapids, MI on the Plymouth Sub, not via Ohio on the Garrett, Willard, and Columbus Subs - they stopped that in 2011). The times they run via CN to Durand is because they are handed off to the Huron & Eastern Railroad that goes to Essexville, MI - nowhere near Lansing that is not even served by CN. They flip the contracts between CSX and CN every few months for the best shipping rates. CSX serves MSU in Lansing with CSX coal trains from Virginia, not Powder River coal that BNSF serves since MSU prefers a higher sulfer rate.

As regards to the lumber company, it was Erb Lumber, but they moved off our railroad and we stopped serving them around 2009. American Plastic Toys was the last active customer we had until Mid-December of 2011 where we ran the last train of empties from APT to the CSX interchange. Also, I am 23.....not a kid, Zack.
