Coal Fork Route - Missing bits

I did my first download from DLS, the Coal Fork route. The download helper took over and downloaded a ton of stuff. But when I look at the map in TrainzObjects it is telling me I am missing 4 objects:

<KUID:138423:4000018>
<KUID:138423:400019>
<KUID:52597:22654>
<KUID:9000:23003>

Anyone know where these may be? Nothing else is listed.

Oh, and the there are a few routes I downloaded from other sites in .cdp format. TrainzObjects tell me I have heaps of missing objects. For example Roaring Fork Railway is missing 284 objects. Being a newbie at all this, where and what should I be looking for to resolve these issues.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Hmmm, thanks. I checked TARL and that got a couple.

I have downloaded about 10 routes and all but 1 are missing things, heaps of things. Is this how it is going to be all the time? I am starting to doubt my purchase if it is so hard just to install an extra bit or two.

Please tell me I'm wrong and I am missing something. I am not a big gamer, this being the only one I own.

Cheers

Sorry to say it, but this appears to be a common occurrence. However, post the missing KUIDS and people will try to find them for you whenever possible.

Hi Bruce,

Keep your head up.

Here is the deal. Some route creators try very hard to use only built in content or content available at the Download Station at Auran. There is sticky at the top of one forum here that lists those routes. If you don't like the hunting for KUIDs routine then these are the ones to stick to downloading. Also routes at trainzproroutes.org are very easy to find all the content for installation. Look on the main site rather than just their Download Depot.

But other route builders use content that is only available at third party sites. The Roaring Forks Rwy being NG is one of these. Most trainzers tend to collect content in their area of interest. I'm interested in NG so I tend to download anything NG whereever I find it. This helps a lot when looking for missing KUIDs. I also grab a lot of textures from any trainz site for the same reason. If you don't want to visit the third party sites(some of which aren't in English, I think I know the word for Download in about 30 languages) then find the above mentioned list and stick to it.

Check out SirGibby's site Trainzone.co.nz for most of the content for Roaring Forks. Prowler901 has a site with a lot of cool stuff.

Hi William

Thanks for that explanation, it clears up a couple of things. I do not mind looking for stuff, as long as there aren't too many. For example, at the moment (according to TrainzObjects) roaring Forks is missing 285 objects, ProtoClinchfield is missing 238 objects, Coal Fork is missing 4 etc. Those big numbers are a bit hard to search for on the DLS!

Another thing I have to learn is how to make stuff appear. Another example: I downloaded the Clinchfield route from trainzproroutes. I then spent the next hour or so downloading all the required bits individually from the DLS until I got TrainzObjects to report all was well. Fired up TRS2004, go into Driver but the Clinchfield route is not there. It is in Surveyor, but not Driver. I am lost now until I figure that one out.

I'll check out the link you gace me for Roaring Forks stuff tomorrow avo and see what I can come up with.

Thanks again

Cheers

You have to add at least an engine to any route in Surveyor in order for it to appear in Driver.
Go back into Surveyor and load Clinchfield. 'F7' will show you the list of engines and rolling stock.
Scroll through the list until you find an engine you'd like to run on the layout.
Click on the plus sign. Move your cursor over to the spot on the track where you want the engine. Click. The engine should appear.
Go the the menu in the upper left hand corner. click on Save, then click on the green arrow that will appear in the window that says 'Create a New Session?'.
Exit from Surveyor and go back to Driver. Clinchfield will be there.

Bruce,

In Trainzobjectz, after you check a map for missing items and the items are listed in red at the bottom of the list. Right click on one of the items and choose "Download Missing Items with Helper" That will queue them up and download them all at once.

Another tip is that sometimes something is reported as missing when you have it and it is showing up on the map. Just a weirdness in TO.

Check the TPR forums for some links to custom content for ProtoClinch. Before they released the route they made the content available in the forum. Before they started the Download Depot, all their content was available through the forum. A lot of good stuff is still hidden in there.

Last time I checked Coal Fork, I was missing 3 items.
One option, once you exhaust the above ones, is to replace certain items with something else. On one route, I was missing a building and 2 ground textures. I replaced them with three antennas not used in the route, then went into Surveyor and found where they were. I put other ground textures that looked appropriate to the area in and the missing building, the antenna looked fine so I just left it.:)

Best used when missing small amounts of content. Also, it might be hard to find even with antennas. I had another route where I used 4 antennas to find the missing items but only found 2 of the antennas.

Bruce,

Another tip is that sometimes something is reported as missing when you have it and it is showing up on the map. Just a weirdness in TO.

I've noticed that some maps as are listed twice in TO, under different Kuid numbers, and with different assets missing. I'm wondering if these are updates or patches.

Thank everyone who has replied. I forgot to check the thread after my last reply. The right click on the map screen in TrainzObjects is definitely useful and if I had read the reply sooner I wouldn't have started my new thread in the subject :)

Thanks William, you have come through again! I have downloaded those cdp's and will install them when TO has done it's download job on ProtoClinch!

Cheers
