Coal Country - Coal Service session - Consist on Switch Causes Derail at Tipple

Route: Coal Country
Session: Coal Service
Location: Gilbert's Tipple

At Gilbert's Tipple you are instructed to couple to the cars and then load.

The provided consist is setting over an improperly set switch (switch G4) toward read of consist. Obviously, once you couple to the consist and pull a derail occurs and session ends.

Picture shows improper switch setting (snapped immediately after starting a new session.)

Well, that's not fun. I've seen that with other sessions but since I haven't run this exact one, I don't know what to do to fix it.

Otherwise, you can try the session I made for Coal Country mine loading: <KUID:417385:100886>

and see if it works for you.

Ha! All the switch throws in my session are your responsibility so if something goes wrong go look in the mirror for the cause of the problem.

I haven't heard of any problems with it but if you find any please get back to me.

Thanks and take care,

I just edited the session moving the consist to the other track, setting the switch properly, and then placing the consist back again. Running the session now. Should work fine as the session doesn't alter the initial setting.

Support ticket on the JR site has also been done.

Will check out you mine loading session. Thanks.

I had run this session with no problems a while back (before updating to TRS19 105096). I didn't recall any switches being problematic at Gilbert in the previous version.

When I saw 1611mac's post, I went and checked the session. Sure enough, the switch was set wrong for the session, partway through the empty coal cars at Gilbert, but I simply clicked on it to set it to the correct position.

Then I ran the session. As I was coming up the hill to Gilbert, I was backing my engines and noticed that the switch at Gilbert was going to put me on the siding that didn't have the coal cars. I then changed the facing of the engines and the switch changed to put me on the siding that had the empty coal cars.

If I hadn't changed the wrong-way switch at the beginning of the session, might it have changed when I switched the heading of the engines coming up the hill?

At any rate, the session went well and I completed it with no problems, once the wrong-way switch was attended to. Thanks for the heads up, 1611mac.

Hi All - You may open the session in surveyor, go to junction GT4, and set it "right" using Tracks tab > Trackside mode > Junction direction. Then save your changes and run in driver. Otherwise, as mentioned, you can set this manually as long as you do so early in the session before the hoppers sitting on the junction lock it.
