CMP letter to Auran

It's only a paintshed skin so why not remove the files from your local folder and then see it Trainz stabilizes. If not, then the problem is elsewhere. If everything runs smoothly, then create a new paintshed skin. Perhaps there was a subtle corruption in one of the files.

Am I supposed to like, um, remove the folder that contains the asset and stuff? Is that how you uninstall if CMP is going bonkers?

Hello

1. Delete the asset in question in CMP.
2. Then close CMP.
3. Delete Assets.tdx and Assets.bku files.
4. Then let CMP re-build the assets database.
5. Then see if your Trainz stabilizes and runs fine, if it does then follow step 6 below, if it doesn't then the problem lays elsewhere ie: software configuration or hardware issues on your PC.
6. Then create a new paintshed skin & see if it works.

Do not mess with CCP unless you know what you are doing.

I am supposed to delete the folder?

One issue - when I found this problem, I reimported my saved CDP, so currently the asset is located in the editing folder, and I can find it. So am I supposed to remove the folder from the editing folder?

If it is still in the editing folder, then it has not been committed and not available in 06.

Have a look in the local folders anyway, perhaps there is a corrupted version in there that is preventing the new one from being committed.

Never, ever, use the word 'Britney' in a config file. The programmer obviously hates Britney Spears.

Paul

What if I tried to 'trick' CMP into typing 'Britney' as 'Brittnee'? Would it still go crazy?

How can I find out what folder my contents are located in? The folders are all sorts of letter + number codes/combinations.

No one said it was going to be easy. :hehe: Use the Windows search feature to find distinctive text within the files in your local folders. Restrict the search to the local folders and it wont take too long. That should narrow it down to only a few possibilities if the text you are searching for is not used by many other objects.

Would searching for 'Kennedy' in 'a word or phrase in a file' and 'config.txt' in 'all or part of the file name' be a good idea?

Hello

You could send the file or CDP file to someone else so they can test the file in their CMP and that will derminate whether the fault lies in the file or your PC.:)

Regards

Ahsan:)

Problem is, the CDP i have is probably the good version. I can't get the bad version to CDP. Also,

What if I typed 'Brittnee' instead of 'Britney'? Would I still get this issue?

That was actually the name I intended on typing in the first place. :'(

One of the problems with the popular 'carbody' units was that the strength lies in the shell itself with it's stressed and re-inforced walls; rather than in a rigid underframe. If you take the sides off an f-unit, it will fall apart, making it difficult to undertake major repairs on the locomotives.
The introduction of the GP7, the first 'road switcher' in 1949, marked the beginning of the end for the attractive carbody units that were critical to EMD's early success.
A demand existed for locomotives in the order of 3000hp, double the output of the famed f series; and in 1965 EMD issued a contender with it's new 645 cid prime mover. The 645 2 stroke v engine, available in several configurations, would eventually become something of an industry standard worldwide.
A battle ensued over the next few years that saw the developement of a range of locos by various manufacturers, EMD dominated the marketplace with it's 4 axled GP40 and 6 axled SD 'Special Duty' 40.
The SD40-2 was a result of a series of revisions in this fiercely competitive climate, and from 1972, began to take it's place as the best selling US locomotive ever - sales approaching 4000 by the end of the 70's. The largest orders for SD40-2s were placed by Burlington Northern, whose roster of 900 units comprised a quarter of the total fleet.
SD40-2 gained 3'1/2 (.92m) on it's predecessor, with it's slightly longer wheelbase. This locomotive is considered the world's most reliable and cost-effective diesel electric; and is a favourite among crews and railfans alike.

SD 'Special Duty' 40.
