CMP in TS2010 crashing issue - bad content.

Hi all,

I downloaded TS2010 and it installed fine. I am waiting for the disk replacment to take place, but since I have limited time off, I decided to jump the gun and download. It's a nice program, and I'll post my observations about it in another post.

Anyway, on to the problem with CMP...

I was in the process of updating and cleaning up content including missing dependencies on various items. Among them is the BR103 steam locomotive, which was missing parts. When I click on this particular item, CMP crashes and I am unable to delete it, which I would think to be the best thing to do.

When the program crashed, I ran the extensive database repair a couple of times, but that problem didn't go away. Any suggestions on how to get around this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help, and happy holidays.

John

ps I'm sure this problem would happen in TRS2009 as well.

This worked for one I couldn't get rid of in 2009, view the config file to get the name of the mesh file, then search for the xxx.im or xxx.pm using Windoze file search, open the hash folder it's in, check the config to make sure you have the you have the right item and delete the folder.

May have to do a database repair afterwards.

Thank you, Malcom for your suggestion. I'll give it a try and post the results.

EDIT:
Okay I did a disk search both in windows explorer and via a DOS prompt. The command in the DOS prompt is:

I first navigated to the C:\Program Files(x86)\Auran\TS2009\Local
I then did a search by kuid since each asset is still in Kuid format even though they exist in the Hash directories.

Dir /s "Kuid2 55033*

This brought up two other kuids by Detlev20, but not the one I am looking for. Hmn... I also checked a backup directory I have, and the asset doesn't exist there either. I'm thinking that the asset doesn't exist locally even though CMP thinks so.

I ran three extended database repairs to no avail. The message that comes up in the details refers only to built-in items that get listed when they are viewed in CMP. I'm thinking that if I could download the asset again and install it from a CDP, CMP will prompt me to overwite the asset because it thinks that it exists even though it does not. This will force the database to update properly then I can delete this sucker. The problem is I can't because CMP thinks it's already installed and I can't seem to be able to download from the FTP link.

Any other suggestions?

John

If you click the "reset warnings dialog" button in CMP settings it should let you decide what to do when installing something that's already installed.
