CMP fatal error when launched: Video card shot?

Transportfan

...the sign man
When I try to start the CMP in '06, I get a fatal error immedietaly after clicking "Manage Content". Could my VC be gone as the picture quality is poor, everything on screen appears larger than normal and I get a warning popup from ATI.

Also, I had my computer blown a few months ago and the tech said the VC fan was popped off because of the dust accumulation although it still worked until now. Could it have caught up with me?

And why would a broken card effect the CMP?

This could very well be the problem. Think about getting a new VC soon.

Hi - I think I would agree with John. If your Video card has overheated then it may be to late as the damage is done. With everything becoming "too large" then it seems the card is defaulting to the 800 / 600 setting.

I thought that's what happened. also, when I play videos off my HD I get errors too, although You Tube videos play fine.

But why would an overheated card effect the CMP? The game itself I can see, but the CMP seems odd.

CMP is more sensitive and requires Open/GL to operate. It could be that the video card is now marginal.
