Closing the distance

I am doing a DEM route of Stevens Pass in Washington. And there is a long tunnel. Is there a way to use 2 portals to shorten the distance and time. thanks funnnyfarm

If you're doing a DEM of the route, I would not substitute portals. In my opinion, that would defeat the purpose of an accurate route. If you really want to go through with the portals though, you will need to do the following:

1) Place at each end of the Cascade Tunnel an asset titled "Portal." The asset is built-in and can be found under the Objects section.
2) Rename each of them to a recognizable name. I would suggest Cascade Tunnel East and Cascade Tunnel West.
3) Open the menu of one portal and check the box: "Train returns after 5 real minutes delay." Another set of options will appear. Check the box that says: "Trainz returns through alternate portal 'none.'" If you opened the East Portal's menu, you would change the return portal to be the name of the west portal.
4) Repeat step three for the other portal.

On a side note, you should start a screenshots thread. I am quite interested in this route being a Great Northern fan.

Cheers!

I takes a real train upward of 1 minute to traverse length the of a tunnel, and a portal would probably emit a train every 1 minute ... so I doubt you'd save and distance and time ... besides, you want things to be prototypical, don't you ?

Ah yes Cascade, but this tunnel he is talking about is over 7 miles long and takes about 20-30 mins to traverse.

I plan on doing this route 2 ways, 1 in the 1880's with all the switch backs and the other in the early 1900's. I started with NP in 1968 at sandpoint Id. And retired 3 years ago. Maybe I will start with the screenshot thread if I can figure it out. thanks for the help funnnyfarm
