I have tried for many hours to change the clock/time of day. I read the section about the clock, but when I try out the game, the time is always mid-day.What am I doing wrong? I`ve tried allways to keep the night scene, but no luck.
Can anyone out there please help acomputer novice?:(

This might help

The most probable explanation is that you are setting the clock in Surveyor, and expecting it to keep to the same time in Driver. A lot of us made that mistake at first!

After having set the clock in Surveyor, you expect it to stay at that time when in Driver – using the same logic as setting down a tree or track.

It doesn’t work that way.

You nee to do this:
1. Click on the Edit Session Rules button
2. On the dropdown menu select Startup Options
3. Click the Edit button. (n.b. From here you can click any of the underscored options)
4. Click on the underscored hour value
5. A popup box will appear. Key in your new hour value (minutes, if wanted, have to be selected separately). Click the green tick.
6. Click the green tick in the Edit Session window.
Go back to 3. if you want to select minutes, or any of the other underscored options.

The reason for this long winded process is because you can use a Route for running several separate sessions. These sessions can have different trains as most users know, but you can can also have different weather, separate start times, normal or speeded up time and lots of other combinations of goodies!

This picture might help with the 1 - 6 process outlined above. I see you use TRS2006, but I believe you will find that the method is the same.

BTW, you can also move any of the windowed pop-up boxes which have a spiral binding by dragging and dropping on the spiral bit. (I only discovered this option a few months ago!) It’s a great method for adjusting the screen information to see the relevant part of the Surveyor screen. The pop-ups nearly always seem to cover up the bit I'm working on!

Apologies if this image is a bit oversized for this thread, but any smaller and the text is unclear.

You can also adjust the time too within Driver if you have Quick Drive enabled.

I set the time to be the same as my real clock in my house so I can see what time it is while in Driver, or to the daytime hours if it's dark out like 11:00 instead of 23:00. There's nothing like getting side-tracked on a work night, and forgetting to go to bed at a decent hour!

If you usually set it to the same time as your house clock, Use System Time may help.

Shane

System time works if it's during the day, but I don't always drive at night. So when it's 20:00 hours or later, I set the time to 08:00 hours. This way I have daylight while I'm driving.

Fair enough.

The time can also be set in Driver if the Request Session Time rule is added to the session in Surveyor.

Very many thanks to all concerned, who helped me to a better game. As I said to my wife," unless one is directed to certain pages, it looked straight forward, a bit like , lay bricks for a house, then move in!a few bits need to be done first".
True to form, you have all rallied roud to help; thanks again!!
All the best to 0ne and all for the coming festive season.:D :D

Thanks, John - I usually try to learn one new thing a day - today I've learned two!
