Cleaning up CMP

Hello Everyone: Is it possible to remove (delete) assets from the CMP that are not built-in?? I'm talking about TS2009, build44653, CMP, v3.3.Thanks in advance. Lou

Built-In assets can not be deleted ... but non- But non Built-In assets can be deleted.

It takes care to delete alot of assets, as deleting them may break assets and routes.

My advice is that if you have a fairly big hard drive, you will never know that you have 70 zillion assets.

Unless you downloaded every railcar and loco on the DLS (like I did) ... I wouldn't worry about it

I have a good-sized HD (1Tb). The reason I asked the question was I tried (stupidly) to download TrainzItalia's Sherman Hill route and all 5 asset packs into TS2009. This was a disaster. I cleaned all of that out of the computer, but I'm still left with a whole lot of assets (20,000) in CMP that I'll never be able to use and they clutter up the CMP list. Thanks for your input. Lou

If CMP for 2009 works the same as for TS12 then it shouldn't be hard to isolate those assets with filters and delete them.

One way to find if any are used in current routes is to disable them all, then check to see if they show in your routes. Do this by checking the dependencies and they will show the red cicle with the slash through them. They still work in a route even when disabled. You can then delete the rest without fear of damaging your routes.
Cheers,
Mike

I think you forgot the step of enabling those related to routes again.

So (your idea):
- Disable all assets in CM
- List the dependencies for all routes
- Enable all those dependencies
- Delete all dependencies that are still disabled when you have checked each route

I think the flaw of this system is that it will not list the dependencies of the dependencies so as a result you end up having to re-download those again.
... or you have to also check the dependencies of the dependencies and the dependencies of the dependencies of the dependencies (etc)... at which moment re-downloading everything becomes less time consuming.

Not all the assets in CM. Just the ones the OP wishes to delete. It may be a bit of work but not as much as having to download all the missing if they are just deleted as a block,
Cheers,
Mike
