classic 3 steam only braking problem

please help,
I am running a 'Trains Classics third edition' on my laptop using
Windows 7 and it is running pefectly well except for one problem.
The steam engines supplied brake very poorly on all versions of
use e.g AI, simple controls,driver controls and manually. The diesels work
fine. How can I fix this?
'Trains 2009' runs fine with no problems, under the
same conditions
I am using track marks to drive to, when I drive to a station platform. But
the train sails onward in its own way.

AI and DCC use the parameter values in the motor container in the loco's enginespec. You might try editing the enginespec and doubling the max-decel value.
