Clarification needed

What (if any) is the difference between the "Download Station" and "Content Manager" ? Is it the same thing only different ? And what is the deal with "Updates" that is found on the Main Menu screen ?

I'm gettin' good at asking stupid questions.

Thanks.

Hello.

Content Manager is another way to access the DLS with the added facilities of editing content and fixing any errors.

The 'Updates' on the main screen are available updates to content you have downloaded.

Download Station: Name for the website where one can download content, a combination repository and database of Trainz assets

Content Manger: Program for dealing with local assets on YOUR computer. It is also capable of accessing the Download Station, and downloading and installing content from the Download Station. It can also install content downloaded from 3rd party sources as either a proper folder structure or a "CDP" (Content Dispatcher Package).

Updates on the main menu are a listing of assets that have later versions available in the Download Station. It is NOT required to download them, but it is generally a good idea. This is not to be confused with program updates or service packs which would be downloaded and installed separately.

Because it might help:

DLS = Download Station

CM = Content Manager

CMP = Properly, "Content Manger Plus", the editor built into the Content Manger but often used to refer to "Content Manager"

DLC = "Downloadable Content" payware from Auran/N3V store

Thanks, guys. That is pretty much what I thought. As far as "Updates", I usually scroll thru them occasionally to see if there is an update for something that I KNOW that I use. Otherwise, I leave them alone. Content Manager is the tool that I use the most. I just wanted to make sure that I was not missing out on anything !

Thanks, for the quick responses !!

It looks pretty difficult to search the DLS from those two sites. I think I will stick to accessing it through CM.

Thanks.
