Is it just me or is anybody else just getting a gray screen at their site. I haven't seen any other posts about this.

It seems like every other day I sign on there is yet another "Where is Checkrail?" thread. When I type "Checkrail" in the search box, the fourth thread referenced is the latest one, and there are 4 other threads that come up on the first page alone of the various states of Checkrail being up or down. I wonder why people feel the need to constantly start new threads about this (or anything else, for that matter) without looking first.

Lol, how about the million threads about 'How fix SPorBUST's content'?

LOL - I am thinking of changing the domain name to bridesnightie.com

I know the site has been up and down a bit recently, but the inconsistent internet presence is due to repeated hack attacks and my attempts to circumvent them. Some attacks are obvious, but i am very aware of the possibility of attaching unseen malware to downloads, it would be dead easy to replace xxx.cdp with a same-sized file xxx.cdp.exe.

On a side note you should NEVER EVER execute a cdp by double-clicking. DLS assets downloaded via CM self-install, third party stuff should be installed by dragging the cdp into an open CM window. If the file is not a genuine cdp it won't install, period. It won't execute either. Any downloaded cdp that won't install by dragging into CM should be shift+deleted immediately.....

Anyway the quickest 'fix' for the website is to delete everything and put back files known to be clean. Unfortunately the upload process takes time - lots of time....

Andy :)

One useful thing one can do is to disable the option in Windows to hide file extensions for known file types. This is enabled by default, and helps provide cover for the "image.jpg.exe"-type malware that you speak of, since the ".exe" extension would be hidden in Windows Explorer. This can be disabled in Windows Vista by choosing the "Folder Options" item in the "Tools" menu when viewing a folder, then, on the "View" tab, uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types" box in the "Advanced" section.

That said, it is certainly probable that there are computer-illiterate people out there who would still choose the "Open" option when downloading a malicious (unbeknownst to them) "image.jpg.exe" file just because the download link said it was to download an image.

Awesome tip for those not in the know, too, Andy. I'm not sure what is going on with my system.... when I try to download something (from a known safe source!) using "open with...", it used to open a new CMP each time, so I would end up with 5-6 iterations of CMP running at the same time (which couldn't possibly be a good thing), and now it doesn't work at all, so I make a point to download stuff now by "save as..." I open CMP myself and then drag and drop into CMP to install now and I find I have far fewer database rebuilds too.
