Hello All;

I Have just opened a new trainz site , in which you may download content by me , or anyone on this website.

Due to many people trying to steal my content , you MUST register , and i will check your ip to insure that you are not a theft, or have been blocked.

Since I just Opened this site , it will officially be opened september 19,2009 .. i am adding lots of content

When you get some content, you can register with the Trainz Resources Directory.

In the meantime I think you need to address two issues:

1. Don't promote a web site that has no content. By all means officially open it whenever you like, but get some content before sending people there.

2. Not letting people see your downloads before registering is a BIG mistake. Show them ALL your content, then let them register if they like what they see. Keep nothing secret from anybody.

Think about it:

1. Would you visit a supermarket with empty shelves?

2. Would you register with www.xyz.com if you didn't have a clue about what they were offering?

Good luck. Starting a web site is the easiest part. keeping it running and getting visitors is a heck of a lot harder.
 
thanks john. it is open but not to the public, when i mean it opens, like it opens to the public with no registration necessary, some people have tried to steal my content thats why i require registration !

im sorry if it doesnt appeal , but i don't want people stealing my content!

edit: i do have so far 5 downloads

I'm not concerned about your downloads requiring registration, but you can at least have a gallery of items available for download with links to your login page. Asking people to register before they see what you have to offer is like telling theatre-goers they must pay before they get told what movie they will be watching. It's not good marketing.

What have they tried to steal, how, why & what do you think they may do with it if they stole it ???

You have lost me a wee bit here son !!! Why would anyone want to steal your software/content when you have been - are going to continue to offer it to the general public/trainz community for free ???? (how does someone steal freeware)?

Are you trying to say that you don't want anyone that hasn't got a registered copy/version of Trainz to be able to download your content. Now that I can easily understand !!!!

but thats the thing , before i posted the websites opening date ,i found out that someone from the train-sim.com forums had stole ,and used my content to show to others/ offer as a download using his name.

thats why i require registration, thats all.

Also what you mentioned, that i want everyone on my website to have a registered serial.

Front page has alot to be desired! And your questionare is foolhardy if a person cannot see anything to rate it. I think you need to rethink your plan alittle!
 
I have never understood the reason for people to have free content uploaded to their own website, Thats what the DLS is for and it makes getting content for other routs much simpler if they are all located in one location.
 
He really is not attacking you, though it may be a little blunt, he is being cautious over his suspisions and trying to potentially protect others from harm..... if you truely have no connection with these other accounts, then pay no attention to the posts..... they should not be taken as an offense.....

Giving you the benefit of the doubt...... can you go into further detail about content you have, or will be providing on your site?

i am taking full offense due to he being so into a person's business like that. I am no dtp or whoever this guy says i am. He is So stereotypical saying i am someone else. I Am here to talk about trainz and offer my content..

I am still thinking weather i should or should open because ive lost respect for this place due to this stereotype.
 
if you do feel that that is true, posting yourr content on the DLS would probably be the better of your options to go with.... there would be no scam accusations for uploading it there.......
 
I think you're the one that's making people sceptical. To begin with, your comments about patricktaylor89 on your home page are extremely distasteful, even if he was wrong. I suggest you remove them post haste.

While you're there, may I suggest you also adjust your hit counter to reflect the actual traffic to your site that's not even 24 hours old. 341,841 visitors in less than a day is a bit over the top. Even my site which attracts lots of traffic has only had 5,000 unique visitors since the end of March.

Please also consider removing the hiphop/rap radio channel that blasts into noise mode as soon as someone enters your site. A large proportion of your visitors will be older people who may find hiphop and rap irritating to say the least.

I think you have made the same mistake as many others before you. Never invite people to a web site before you have some content to offer. Never be afraid to publicly display that content, and avoid using all the bells and whistles offered by Webs.com. In other words, try to make your site visitor friendly and Trainz specific. I'm afraid yours is far from visitor friendly at present and the hiphop radio is a waste of bandwidth.

Okay, I am sorry but, first off. Please attempt to use proper grammar here. This is a forum, not an instant message area. Second, the hiphop is just really annoying. (And no I am not old, I just don't like it, and even if I did, I wouldn't want it blaring on a website against my will.) Third, the background is really kinda cheesy, especially because it is an 09 boxart, and on the site it says that Classics is the latest.

Also the part about you not being disturbinthepeace, along with the bad grammar, shady, "behind this curtain" sign up to see website, and fake ticker counter, makes me think that you actually are him. If not, I don't care, I am just saying that you fit the bill.

Also, having to log in to even SEE what is available is NOT user friendly, and quite frankly suspicious. For all that we know, it could be other peoples content, or the New Haven line for Classics under a different name, in your downloads section. We all know that we have seen that before from someone who might or might not be you for all I know or care.

By the way, I am sorry if I am skeptical about the disturbinthepeace thing. If you aren't him, then blame him for the stigma associated with mysterious people who have bad grammar and such, and change to be a better user here. By the way, I wouldn't have even thought of Disturbinthepeace if it wasn't for that thing on your website.

thats the type of music i like man, its not about how many views but the fact that i have been advertising my trainz website with a friend who works in google , thats why i have so many views,

The music was not my idea ,

but the comment i made about that guy came from the heart, he was trying to shut me down , you know by trying to pick on the new guys , comon it wasnt fair :'(

if you want, you can help me continue trying to make a good website,
