I want to darken texture TS09_19. It literally glows due to very excessive brightness. But, the extension is texture and is not something like jpg, bmp, etc. I tried changing the extension but Irfan would not recognize it - invalid header error.
Actually, I took the easy way out and simply made a PEV TGA file of a TS09 texture. Then copied it into a clone of a non-built-in existing texture replacing its TGA. It was not burdened with the Alpha filter, nor the TEXTURE extension and is not responsive to the Auran sun that makes so many textures glow as if a they had a large searchlight shining on them. By darkening the copy of the original texture TGA I achieved the desired effect with little effort...
