Cement mixer 1950's style

For the many requesting this one for a long time, good news is I finally got around to making a 1950's style cement mix truck. The bad news is I can only show screenshots at this stage. I want to wait a little bit until Andi06's 'AJS Traffic Library' is released so I can make the cement truck compatible with it.

The Traffic Library will allow you to set a vehicle's properties for both scenery and road traffic (including its 'float height' on roads, when/if nightmode comes on/off, etcetera) all from the one model. Will save having multiple versions of the same vehicle and makes everything a lot more customizable.

In the meantime, this is what the truck looks like. The cab is an International R-185 in faded blue. I hope it's not too long before I can make it available.

You beaut Deane....Thanks a lot.

I suppose it's a silly question, but, is the drum animated ??

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.
I want to ask the same question! I tried to get my mixer to animate the drum when I was trying to make it as a drivable truck. I now only have it made just as a static model for scenery.

There's a couple of tricks needed for animating a 'rotation' at an angle. I did get it to work on the handles on my VR QN ballast hopper, but it's a paint to get working right. Note, your dummy will need to start with a rotation of 0,0,0 and as such you need to use keyframes at least every second frame to animate it. I'll see about doing a tutorial up if anyone's interested :)

By the way, nice cement mixer. I think I have just the place for it on my current layout actually...

Zec,

Although the dummy itself must start life with zero rotation, there is no such requirement for its pivot. You just need to align one axis of the pivot with the axis of rotation and then rotate about the pivot in its local coordinates.

Well, I'm interested Zec. Animation is something I haven't ventured into at all yet, so if there is any dummy needing rotation, that will probably be me!

Please write the tute with the animation-newbie in mind.

And thanks for the nice words. It's ready to go, just awaiting the final edition of the AJS Traffic Library to go with it.
