I have Trainz 2006, which Ive been using quite happily for 3 years now, however when I click on the desktop icon now either nothing happens or I get the start page up for trainz but when i click start it freezes any ideas how to get it going again? If you click any other applications on the start page ie website, download station, or manual there fine its just start.

I suffered this for quite a while, until I discovered that disabling programmes running in the background stopped it.

I narrowed my problems down to Roxio drag to disc, and intervideo (I think).

that means theres a problem wih CMP.i had the same problem.to fix this problem open CMP.then click launch trainz.it will ask you if you want to commit changes.WARNING you must disable "reopen assets".(this will prevent from carshing CMP.65% chance)and then go to the launcher and click "start" there you go>(if the problem starts you have to wait about a real 6 min.) hope this helps:)

Thanks guys for the info, NYCboy the problem did start when I was in the CMP and tried to switch back to the surveyor, the program froze and when I restarted I was left with my current problem, at present if I manage to get into the cmp its searching for content continually (the torch waving from side to side) how do i disable 'reopen assets'? not sure where that is.

If it doesn't work do you think I should uninstall then reinstall and to save my maps and downloads is it the local folder I copy

thanks for your help

I suffer similar problems and have narrowed it down to a conflict between the Trainz intos and Roxio Easy Media Creator 10. When I install Roxio Easy Media Creator 10, I can't get trs2004 to load at all. trs2006 and tc 1,2, & 3 won't load the normal way. They get fatal errors. I have to launch them from the icon on CMP (loads without intros). The reason; Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 is conflicting with the .avi intros. In tc 1,2, if I try to run a layout with the the little movies, I also get the fatal errors.
If I un-install Roxio Easy Media Creator 10, the problem goes away. I even downloaded and installed the latest update to Roxio Easy Media Creator 10, the problem followed the update.

Has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks Arron

Well, if your CMP keeps looking for the files, here's one trick I learned, though if your CMP is as touchy as it sounds, this might not work. But its worth a shot. Click on the little window that says searching for assets and then hit escape. Do that with an other windows that open up. That's what I do and it works for me all the time. Hope this helps.

I'm having almost the exact same problem right now.... :'( I can launch CMP, but in the are where all the assets are listed, it just says "Please wait..." I've deleted assets.tdx and assets.bku many times now and it hasn't done any good... When I launch TRS06 (The main program), the intro works fine, but when I get to the loading screen, it freezes! I've tried launching from CMP and the launcher, and still nothing... And bigboy4010, I don't see any little windows that say searching for assets..... And by the way, this all started after I downloaded a Garrett (spelling?) from the DLS. I believe it was made by VicTrainz sometime in August.... EDIT: I deleted some unused/unwanted assests, including the Garrett, but it still freezes... I REALLY don't want to have to re-install....

Hi Arron,
I've had trouble with Roxio with other programs on a system that didn't have Trainz installed. As far as I'm concerned their program is gross and over-built. Besides that put some kind of thing in the registry and a hidden file on your hard drive that "phones home" all the time.

So intead of using Roxio, I use ImgBurn which is a freeware application and it works just as well and is a bit faster. The only thing it doesn't have is an artwork creator, but I don't care about that because my discs are for my backups only and a sharpie fine-point marker works great for what I need.

This program is very simple to use and works on everything except for NT 4.0 which has trouble with just about everything anyway.
