Can't get some industries to work

I am playing with the EK4 route I downloaded. In the properties window for SOME of the industries, there is the yellow and orange info boxes with Produce, Consume, etc. I tried to put in numbers for the "Rate" and "Initial" sections, but they don't seem to work. Can someone shed some light on how to program these?

Sounds like they may be LARS or ProtoLARS interactive industries.
