Hello trying to patch my game following the patching tutorial sticky.
I have build 47059 and so using the 47059_to_48249.exe I get the following error:

"Existing file is damaged and cannot be patched: D:\Games\N3V Games\TS12\bin\CCP.exe

Failed to apply the patch: 47059_to_48249"

So what gives? The game runs fine so it can't be that "damaged"?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Raymond,

When patching ensure that Trainz or Content Manager is not running, your antivirus is turned off, and you are running the patch-installer as administrator. To run an application as admin, right-click and choose that option from the menu. You'll receive a blanked-over screen with a dialog box. At this box, confirm you want to run the patch.

While patching, do not touch your PC, Trainz, or anything. There are going to be times when the patch-installer appears to be stalled or stuck. Leave everything alone as there are file-type things going on in the background making things appear to be stuck. This process can take many, many hours. In the past I have recommended starting the patch before going to bed and checking on it in the morning to ensure that the patch completes unimpeded.

When you first start Content Manager or TS12 for the first time, you may receive messages about updating the database. Let this process complete as well. This can also take some time and it's best not to interrupt the database updates. There is also a chance you may have errors in the content. There are guides on how to repair these errors and in many cases they are false due to the database update , and will be removed when checking for errors and warnings.

Hello. I tried what you said and I get the exact same error message: I disabled my virus scanner and even right-clicked to "run as administrator" - any other ideas? Thank you again!

Hello Raymond.

Have you followed the guide outlined by Shane Turner? He has a link in his posts to his website regarding patching and various other helpful hints. If all this fails, I recommend backing up your Userdata folder to another location, uninstalling and reinstalling TS12. If you choose this route, run the TS12 installer as Administrator and install in a path similar to this here:

C:\N3V Games\TS12.

Once that is done try patching this up and then bring your User Data into the Userdata folder by copying the folder and pasting into your Trainz install. When prompted to overwrite, choose skip to avoid overwriting any updated content. Once the copy is complete, run an EDR or Extended Database Repair from Content Manager.

As a reminder, remember to run both the TS12 installer and the patches as administrator.

Last time I had that error during patching, it was due to a disk error. Check your hard drive/SSD for errors using Check Disk.
