Can overlapping been done in Trainz2010?

Hello everybody,

Is there a possibility to do some overlapping?

Situation :

At this moment, I'm busy with the creation of a tramroute which follows a major part of the Belgian coast.
I used Transdem to create the route and also to get tracks and roads into the route.

All the above went absolutely fine with transdem.

I have also started the preparation of a next route, which will be a trainroute of West-Vlaanderen ( province within Belgium ).

My tramroute is also in West-Vlaanderen and I would like to start my trainroute from within the tramroute.

However, I cannot add the traintracks to the tramroute using transdem.
When I would do this, I would be overwriting my existing tramroute.

So is there any possibility to add a complete track ( several km long ) to an existing route? I had a look at merging, but this is not an option

Has anyone a solution?

Thank you.

Best regards

One solution I tried successfully (but it did not involve TranzDEM) was to start the second route from scratch as a brand new layout. The two routes had an overlapping section but were in different and independent layout files.

In your case the common shared section of both routes would have to have both sets of tram and rail tracks.

I deleted the parts (baseboards) of the first route that did not overlap the second route and saved the few remaining baseboards as a new route. I also deleted the overlapping parts (baseboards) of the second route and then merged the two together.

I used this method to successfully merge 4 different layouts that converged at a common centre.

You can do as many Routs as you want to in TransDEM, just save them with different names. So for train track use this as a name and select the type of track. Same for roads, fence lines etc etc etc.

Pretty sure the OP wants to add track to an area already completed on an existing route, not simply merge additional boards.

If I read the OP correctly then the answer is 'No'.

EDIT: WRONG! keeep reading....

Hello Pware, Jackdownunder and Dermmy,

Thank you for your replies :).

Dermmy - you are absolutely right . I want to add a track to my tramroute which is in progress.

Before starting the buildingprocess of my tramroute, I first created the route of the tram and the complete Belgian railwayroute using Transdem.

I should have opened the route of the tram and the route of the railway at the same time and let Transdem place the tracks.

I will have to focus my options within Transdem

Pware and Jackdownunder - sorry to say but merging is no option for me.

Hello everybody,

Thanks to Geophil,:D I have a method to add the track to my tramroute in progress and already make it ready for my future trainroute.

Is this a standard function within TransDem or has Geophil cooked up something special?

Hello Dermmy,

No, Geophil didn't cook up something special :hehe: . It is a standard function within Transdem, only a few steps less.

The solution gives me the opportunity to get my roadroute, riverroute and the complete railwayroute ( within West-Vlaanderen ) into my tramroute ( in progress ) :D .

Here is the solution ( http://forum.transdem.de/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=129&sid=e74013d63eadfb5eb3436308f13585f6 )
