Can I list an item privately on the DLS then make it public later?

Davie_UCF

Here since 2001, Trainz!!
Simple question.

If I put an asset on the DLS as unlisted, could I then upload a new version and make it listed?

David

Davie UCF: I use sketch up alot and I was thinking about the same thing..There is lots of times I'll make things for myself and I would like to share some of them..Maybe someone will chime in and give us a nay or yea..I can put things into my trainz world, but does it really mean other people can download?? I use the Ruby T-MIX..

Ha, I didn't even realise you could upload from CM. I've been using Planet Auran.

It may sound silly but I asked this because I hope to upload assets for my route to test the dependencies then make them public once all is sorted..

It's possible, but only if you use the older (non-Content Manager) method of uploading the assets.
I disagree.

You can upload via CM and then generate links you can share to your testing buddy's while it is not available for the rest of the public.

Basicly it has nothing to do with the way you upload it.

You are not familliar with one of the options under the standard upload option.

There is a Make Content Invisible option on the non-Content Manager version.

Also, the method you describe has a limit of 28 days.

I accidentally made a pack of ground textures invisible recently - I must have errantly clicked the wrong box - but it would be good to know if I can fix my mistake without inconveniencing HelpDesk...

I was thinking/hoping you could just upload a new version ? You could try it for us and be the guinea pig? :p

Hi All
Please keep in mind that the 'invisible' content function on the Download Station will only work on the Download Station website. Last check, it did not 'hide' content from the listings in Content Manager.

However, if you wish to use the Download Station to test content before release, then you should use the 'preview area' method of uploading. The 'preview area' allows you to provide download links for the content, without having it publicly available. Content that is not approved/rejected by you in the preview area will be removed after 30 days.

Regards

OK - so if I have uploaded content (twice) and had no rejection emails, but the content does not appear on the DLS either in CM or the Black Pages: whatz gon rong?

I had assumed I had inadvertantly made it 'hidden', but apparently not....

Andy :)
