Buying a birthday prosent for some one

I was going to purchase one of the add ons for a young relative until I noticed that you have to enter the serial number of the TS12 that it will be used with which sort of makes life a bit more complicated than it need be. Its too late now for this particular occasion to do anything and I've sent a more physical present instead but had I misread the instructions?

What should the process be please?

Thanks John

Hi John, Is this because in TS12, Content Manager will automatically download your purchases when you next load the game? I have bought the SnC add on and have TS2009 so its obviously possible to purchase an add on without having TS12 but since you already have this version registered to your username you may be stuck with making your purchases and downloading into TS12?

I don't think that current DLC content will work with older Trainz versions only TS12 SP1. Also if you have SP1 installed you need to download any any DLC content again as older DLC won't work with TS12 SP1. It seems that N3V are trying to force customers to buy TS12 if they want to buy any DLC. This doesn't make good business sense as there are probably many potential customers running TRS2009 or TRS2010.
Cheers Bill

Existing content should still work on TS2009 SP2+/TS2010/TS12 pre-SP1 as well if it gives you a serial number, which is entered during installation of the addon,not the TS2009/TS2010/TS12 serial number.

This was during the order process for a DLC add on on N3V's web site.

Looks like they've changed the procedure in that case, so N3V may need to advise as well. However, there should still be a 'for someone else' or a 'gift' option available during the checkout stages.

Not that I could see. As I mentioned in this case it no longer matters but it might be nice to know for another time.

Send em' cash, and tell them where to buy it ... if for a younger person, direct the parents to use the cash, toward a major credit card transaction.

If you trust them ... give them your credit card info, and tell them to place an order.

Me trust anyone with my credit card number? I don't even trust N3V with that. Giving cash is an option when you're in the same country, otherwise you get hit by transactions costs. I think it cost something like $40 to send money last time and that didn't include the stamp. Amazon works out not too badly I can pay in my local currency and have it delivered in the UK.

Good Morning All
First, it must be stated that we do not support 'gifting' of digital download software. It was possible with the old DLC system to do so, but we do not officially support this, as access to the download is only through the account the download was purchased through. We may add this ability in future, however we do not have any immediate plans for this.

Mornin' ladies and gents;

I was able to send a fella a FCT a couple of months ago. He put the item on his "wish list". I was then able to get the ticket to him, after checking with somebody (ZEC?). Can we still do this? If so, can we "gift" all items at the shop (using the wish list), or just certain items?

Cheers...Rick
