Hello All,

After downloading a lot of awesome steam locomotives I have begun a new route, a midlands based, 1950s inspired passenger and mining route.

Here is the first small yard. With a few movements of coal from the west branch. It's effectively a junction yard with a quiet station with only small local trains stopping.

My plans are to have the main line snaking through towns where the main traffic will be freight with vast yards and many small lines travelling to various factories and depos, the rest of the route will be a large network of branch lines to coal and other mined materials with small stations along some of these more populated routes.

Anyway, to the shots.

What do you think?

Thanks,

George

I like the trackwork so far, but not the track. I'd suggest 'UK Bullhead 09' and it's rusty counterpart. The station could also be a kit-built one, rather than a 'drop-and-go' one (especially considering that one's based on an Australian prototype)

:D I like it. Could you please tell me the orientation E to West etc. Track and buildings can easily be changed as required.
Thank you for sharing.

Here is the new station, kit built :) Do you know of any downloadable "basic" stations (with no platform or buildings) offering different lengths that the ones of Trainz already? As I would still like all my station to have the passenger capability but with differing lengths. Also I have replaced the track with 'UK Bullhead 09' as suggested, looks good!

The orientation is, signal box and warehouses are to the WEST and the station and yard office to the EAST. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for kind words.

I don't do much route building these days but, when I do, I like using the Andi06 station bits and bobs. See http://www.ajsmith.x10.mx/trs/

Nice work on your track

:D Thank you for your quick reply. Domsarto has two station bases that enable you to use his, and others, platform height stations. Kuid 342053:26055 and 26056. These give you greater flexibity to customise your stations.

LMS Jubilee "Leander" pull special preserved steam service along the fast section of line. I think I'm going to have this route as a preserved route. How's it looking?

Big update!

Coalwell Station now fully LMS. Jubilee Leander pulls into station with morning express and Fowler 3F brings small loaded coal train from the mining branch into Coalwell Yard for shunting.

Carpark and mail siding. Express about to depart, imagine the LMS deep *whistle!!*

Further east along the line, Princess Louise, Princess Class 4-6-2 hauls long passenger train along the section of single track over a small level crossing.

Just wondered if this kit of LBSCR station buildings would be of interest. You'll have to search for the kuids. There are some good old fashioned yard lamps like this ( http://www.dckits-devideos.co.uk/img/gi_12_66_100_248.jpg )with separate ladders, but I'm out the DLS so can't get to tell you what those kuids are. Dave

This is/was Wirksworth on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway (see my signature for the real thing), but I've my merged it with my Lincolnshire layout. It's now become Kettleby, Lincs. I've mucked about with it a little bit, but not a lot. The station is made up of the LBSCR buildings, which have been lowered into the ground from a two-storey to single storey building. Works quite well, I think. The actual station building no longer exists.

Forgive me, but my latent OCD is kicking in...that engine looks like one of Skipper1945's beauties (usually easy to tell by the skins on 'em...though I've got a bad feeling I'm about to get shamed...) But I can't tell if she's got 3 drive wheels visible or four...is that the 51xx or did George sneak one of the GWR 2-8-2Ts out onto the DLS without me knowing?

It's Skipper1945's GWR 7200 class :)
