Brakes and Car Cuts

I have used 3 different versions of Trainz over a period of about 7 years, and there are some still some questions I have. This one is about braking.

To avoid confusion, I'll use an example. Say you've got a locomotive and a cut of 10 cars in the simulator. You stop the train and apply the automatic brake until you have a brake pipe of 40 PSI. Then you drop the cars. If you leave and return 30 minutes later, will the cars retain that setting, or will they have released during that time? Also, does the HUD display info when adding cars, or is it "unknown" what their brake status is? In a nutshell: do dropped cars retain the brake pressure you give them before dropping them?

Yes they will If you give the driver a stop and uncouple X car (s). If you are driving the train then you have to click on a car then hit the (A) key uncouple from what every car you want too. Hope this is what you mean.

The "A" key only applies in DCC mode. If you uncouple from a rake then the rake will retain the brake pipe pressure that you put into it before you uncoupled. As soon as you recouple, the pipe pressure will change to the same as the train that is being coupled to the rake.
