BNSF Dash 9 cabs for the BNSF Gevos?

Hi guys,

Memorial Day sale is making some units pretty tempting. However what has held me back thus far has always been the lack of custom cabs. However since I now have the BNSF Dash 9s and both analog and digital cabs, would it be possible with abit of work on my part to make these cabs usable with the ES44s? I realize there is a slight accuracy issue by doing so but that has never been of great concern to me when it comes to cabs. If so then I'd happily help myself to some GEVO goodness. There's still no SD70ACe cab for Trainz that I know of (either freeware or payware) so I'll hold off on that.

Cheerio,

Hi Justin,

Thanks for the response. I do understand if official support is not provided. It'd be like buying a car and asking the dealer "hey I'd like to put some nitrous in it and do the quarter under ten, can you help me?". I was hoping for some "non-official" advice from other, more technically gifted members, as to how the cabs may be duplicated in the ES44s. Sort of like how aliasing works with MSTS and MSFS.

you would have to use the same cab interior kuid, and add the custom_shell tag, this tag causes the scripts to find a shell asset in the kuid table. the script should attach it for you after that point. what i cannot guarantee is if the scripts for the cab will work 100% but i dont think there will be any immediate problems.

you could follow the dash 9 configs as an example.

I did try aliasing an RRMod (is that a foul word in this board?) cab to your BNSF SD40-2 once but that didn't go too well, everything except the gauges were missing. I'll cross my fingers this time and buy the BNSF Gevos along with the new RS1s. Thanks again for these great stuff.

This is how I added the JointedRail SD70MAC cab to other locomotives:

(Note: tab spaces are missing.)

interior <kuid2:45324:90200:1>

And to the config.txt add:

extensions
{
custom_shell "1"
}

And to the kuid table add:

shell <kuid:175455:100071>

The same process might work with other cabs. Tell me if it does.

Hi Phil,

I ended up buying the RS1 and a GN SD45. :D Perhaps now I'll try to put the SD45 cab into the BNSF SD40-2 that I already have using your method. At least if it doesn't work I still end up with 2 engines with nice interiors.

Nicholas
