Blue Comet

I just purchased the Blue Comet add-on and installed it. My question is, how do I use it in the game? I see the loco and cars in the Railyard, but I can't figure out how to use them in the game. Someone please help me. Thank you.

The Blue Comet is used the same as any other rolling stock. In Surveyor you place the loco, tender and traincars. The Blue Comet is found in the Trainz list starting with CNJ Blue Comet.

There are also two predefined consists. CNJ Blue Comet Light has the loco, tender and 4 traincars. CNJ Blue Comet Heavy is the same as the light plus a baggage car.

Thanks Bob. I can see the Blue Comet in the listing in Surveyor or railyard; its the placement of them you mentioned that I don't understand. How do you place them where it will show up in the game.?

Copy this paragraph to notepad and print it out. Then open the Trainz Launcher and select Manual. Look thru the menu pictures as you read this. Then actually do these steps.

Start Trainz and select Routes. Pick one of the listed routes then click the Session button in the lower right corner. Then click Create Session. The icons along the right side control pull-outs for things that you can add to the route. The bottom one is Trains which has the locos and rolling stock list. Click it or press and hold the Control key then the function key F7. Find your loco in the list, click it to highlight it and then put the mouse pointer on the track and left click to place it. Continue to add rolling stock. When done, test the session by clicking the Quick Drive icon (upper left in the menu bar) or press/hold Control F2 and name the session. Select DCC or CAB then click on the X to clear the Quick Drive window.

:Y: Excellent Bob. Precise and concise answer to help out. Far too often on the forum, the answers to inquiries and pleas for help are not written in a deliberate way. Yours is great! I already knew this, but I'm sure there are many who don't.

Thanks for the help. With your information I was able to get Blue Comet working. I guess there is no way to edit a route or session to replace an existing locomotive on an existing session with the Blue Comet, or is there?

As in the above instructions, instead of create session, find your existing session in the list of sessions, highlight it and then select Edit Session. When it opens you can delete existing locos/consists and replace them with whatever you want.

Bob

Thanks again, Bob. I tried deleting as you said and adding Blue Comet but when saving, it make me create a new session. The save pop-up has an option to overwite the old session, but it is greyed out. I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what.

When you enter Trainz from the Launcher, highlight the desired route, click on the Sessions bar in the lower right, then select Edit Session. After making changes and select save you should be able to select either Overwrite Existing Session or Create a New Session.

Hi Padles,

My guess is you have opened a session that is a built in asset ( Read Only in other words ) so you are not allowed to over write it.
Just add a number or letter to the end of the session name.
