Blackheath Down

Royal Mail

A couple of shots taken today )Saturday 28th) on testing some alterations. I stuck a long Royal Mail train on and rant it 3/4 the length.
You can see some of the long curves that look so good on this route.

The train at Lake Valley station pausing to drop some mail.

And passing the Creamery on the long left-hander.

Some scenarios en route on the single-line branch.

High Wood with market stalls, a 'helper' rests on a dustbin... (I will turn the stall round...!)

When's the next train? also at High Wood station

Angelah,
After reading the "blah" routes thread, I downloaded your route "Hayling Island". (all 120mb of it) It is indeed very nice, and like a painting. Not in the least bit "blah".
But, I have (or don't have!) a bunch of missing dependencies, about 20, "unknown". They seem to include textures under the tracks. These problems actually cause the session to slow to a crawl and then stop. I haven't started looking for them in earnest yet, but can you give me a clue as to where to find them? I can list them if necessary.
Thanks,
Mick Berg.

They should all be on the DS. Use TO if you're in 04 or whatever is needed for 06 to find out what's missing.
By all means send me a list and I'll see what can be done, no problems.

What's a 'blah' routes thread? Enlighten me.

There was a thread recently about uninteresting routes uploaded to the DLS. Search on "Blah" to find it if you're interested. Your routes were specifically cited as not being "Blah".

PS No hurry for this, as of tomorrow I'll be in England for two weeks, taking photos for my Alexandra Palace route.

I believe the Kuid :9 items are hog textures used to outline topographic features and are not required on the route at the user end

Some nice shots here Angela pleased I called in to view them

Yes, all 9:xxxx are Hog textures. I made the mistake of using them... this route is not on a DEM. There are 74 I think and there are threads about the Hogs on the forum.
1942:22016 - poplar_30m and 26017 - supermarket-Tesco are both on the DS. Be sure to tick all the boxes when searching.
It is odd about the others. The kuid 147131 is for username Niffi and is probably a gras object. He puts his assets on the DS and that's where I get them from usually, but I may have slipped up and got one elsewhere. Just check you have the last number correct please.
The same goes for 71619 kuid, username trunda - and is most likely a tree.
I will run TO and get the listing.

But basically nothing drastic. The textures are most probably under the tracks because of the nature of the ground along that stretch and to get it looking right I used whatever I had in my palette...

It's not a bad idea to get the Hogs, many people use them.

Angela

2 assets

Something weird going on...

Just finished the TO and they come out thus :-
147131:25001 = Bauernhaus1 by Niffi
71619:22301 = G:tree - birch 15m by trunda

That's exactly how they list.

I don't know if these folk have their own sites, maybe somebody could enlighten us?

On checking my huge second drive where I stow ALL downloaded kuids in case I need to reinstall I cannot find them! I wonder if these are built-in objects with my version of 04. On saying 'my version' I know there are various different ones about and mine came from Auran.

Since making the mistake of including some 'outside' available assets in routes and noting how many problems this causes when putting said routes on the DS I do try not to use any other assets than those available from the download station that I, and anybosy else, can get - it makes life so much simpler for everybody concerned!

Thanks

Wow ! awesome well done I can' wait :udrool: Ill say thank you now....

Just to say thank you for commenting, in your case favourably....

This is my second 'converted' old route that was a built-in one to 04, so I guess everybody will know which it is now!
However, it is entirely different from the original, well, there wouldn't have been much point in doing it if it was. All textures have been changed, ground elevations altered, industries either shifted location or replaced by a better or more suitable one for this new layout and many older assets replaced for newer and better ones.
I have added two deep water docks and a naval base, there's also china clay working, an aggregate open cast 'mine', a petro-chem works, more stations or if they remained in the original positions they are expanded.
Threequarters of the route is 4-track so there is fast and relief working. Many stations have mail unloading points (or whatever the user wants to make them, say milk or dairy products) on the relief lines, 4-track level crossings and a mass of new scenery.
And a branch line too, something not on the original. This, I think, is quite sweet and very rural looking.
But there is still a lot more scenery to do. I have ideas like a market gard, a firing range and a light airfield. And talking of airfields there is a large one at Blackheath with a plane coming in to land.
This is an out-and-back layout with a local circuit at one end, so tons of operational options are available and plenty of goods traffic can be used.

A straight run on the 4-track end-to-end took 19 minutes. Stopping trains take 35 minutes down and 30 minutes up, depending on how long the stops are, I use 30 seconds and a minute. This does not include the circuit or branch.

I work on a daily basis but even this is slow progress, there is an awful lot to do.

Thanks to all,

Angela

This route really is looking fantasic, and well worth the wait - quality takes time so don't let us rabble pressure you;)

Thanks for all your hard work.

Cheers,

Kev

Not yet

Looks fantastic Angela. Any idea of a completion and publish date?

Ian

Hi all,
No idea when it will be done yet. Due to my eye problem I am trying to do shorter stints in Trainz (it doesn't work of course, I get carried away and spend far too long in it) so I am unable at present to say when the route will be uploaded.
I have put in a small airport and the market garden area this morning. I also wish to leave a couple of moorland zones (it saves having to make umpteen fields and Devon does have at least 2 moors so it's legit...

Having said devon, this is not necessarily located there, the route is fictitious. The soil texture in many places is very red and Devonie looking.

Thanks to all for your comments. It's a hell of a route to run but you have more than likely all run on it before - albiet it in a different timescale and place.... ha ha. It is completely different now though, so stacks of surprises up my sleeves for you all.

I like running a P2 at full belt, great...

Ta muchly,

Angela
