Billegulla's Enginespec Spreadsheet Experience

My first use of Bill's great spreadsheet was for VMD's NYC K5b. I put in the loco's parameters and transferred the results into the K5b's enginespec kuid. Commit said error, the 3 boiler efficiency entries not allowed so I deleted them. I tried the loco and I had 0 boiler pressure and the loco wouldn't move. Checked with other enginespecs and found that Auran spells it as efficency so I made the changesm, commited ok. A quick drive session shows that it works!

Copying the 32 spreadsheet values from the horizontal line into the vertical layout in the enginespec is tedious and prone to error. To make this easier for using the spreadsheet I made this change in my copy of the spreadsheet. I moved the horizontal layout of the spreadsheet results to a vertical column layout that matches the layout in the enginespec. After entering the 5 loco parameters, the data column fills out, I highlight it, copy it and then open the target enginespec kuid for Edit in Explorer and paste into the steam container. No typos, no missed items, no transposed digits, just a quick correct transfer. I can now do a revised enginespec in about 5 to 10 minutes.

Good idea Bob, I've always set my steam container spreadsheets up the same way - one copy and paste is so much easier.
