Go into Content Manager, and find the trains that aren't working. Right-click on them and then choose View errors and Warnings. Tell us some of the recurring errors, but ignore the warnings.

Using CM locate 1 of them, r/click, open for edit using explorer and try using the revert option.

I'm running TRS2006 and I've had the same thing happen. Had Loco's and Rolling Stock on my Route for 18 or more months and then one day they are gone. They still show up in CMP but cannot do anything with them. The only thing I found to do about it is use some other Loco or Rolling Stock.

Try the same thing I've mentioned in the above post.

I have tried to download other locomotives, but when complete they show up in surveyor as "red" also and will not work. When I went back into CM and right clicked on them, some of them would show several "textures" that were missing or had dependencies that were missing. How do you add or find or whatever you need to do to get these things working. I do not understand how things can be in CM for downloading that do not work. Couldn't those items be deleted from CM? This is very frustrating. All I want to do is run some trains. I don't understand all of this technical BS that you need to know to get things done. One should be able to find what you want, download it "COMPLETE AND READY TO RUN" and just run it !!!!!!!!!!!

Simple answer is don't download stuff that is for older versions of Trainz than you have and expect it to be error free. The vast majority is actually ok in higher versions.
Plenty of info in these forums about how to fix faulty assets and there is an ongoing repair program, due to the vast numbers of assets on the DLS it is not possible to instantly fix everything at once.

Why are they there? because TC3 is still supported and people with FCT's and old versions for which these items were designed will use them.

For your sudden appearance of red errors, run an EDR and leave it to finish. You have probably scrambled the database by closing down incorrectly or having the PC crash or you may have a disk problem, check it for errors.

You need to do as fran suggested in Post #5. Revert to original in Content Manager will usually bring back built-in assets. If you have downloaded "local" assets, that are "missing" we will have to determine the changes that made them unload-able. Concentrate on the built-ins first. Use the filter in CMP to find and isolate them such as category (locomotive) and (built-in).Anything that shows up with a RED ! needs fixing and hopefully just a "revert to original" will do it. If you need step by step instructions let us know. It's really not that difficult.
